Wooooooow! what a visual creation by the Hellboy team! Imagination at its very best .. CGI used in the movie is just awesome and cant imagine that it could be so real and effective that audience wass drooling over and enjoying it. Totally loved it, infact saw twice - once with friends and other time with colleagues.....Enjoyed a lot both the times - specially in dolby atmos sound
This time, with a new actor as Hellboy, the movie does not fulfil the high expectations both from audience and critics. The movie just doesnt have that Hellboy movie character and it is too bloody. But,there are some positive sides; even though actor that is hellboy has changed,he is very good as are the other actors.Movie has lot of special effects and a good story so if you do not want a hellboy in original style, you will be satisfied.
Hellboy universe with some major events being reduced to a couple minutes. Also would've liked a better take on Rasputin's character, he's an interesting and larger character in the comics, but was reduced to weak lines and an inglorious death. It would've been nice to see the movie end more like the comics but I don't think their budget could accommodate for that as it would likely account for a large portion of the budget, so you're forgiven.
I’m so happy to say that Hellboy is a wonderfully made movie. Yes, the budget shows from time to time ($50 mil as opposed to the norm of $75-$125 mil for comic book fare), and yes, some of the dialogue can be clunky, but it was made with so much care and respect for Mignola’s universe and the look and feel of his books that I can’t help but love it. The Baba Yaga, Gruagach, Hellboy In Mexico, Captain Daimio, a couple of references I won’t state for spoiler reasons, and Lobster flippin’ Johnson are all accounted for in all their gross, pulpy glory. Mila Jovovich was a perfect pick for Nimue. Can’t recommend this enough for fans of the comics. HOWEVER, I can also say that if you’re more familiar with Guillermo del Toro’s films than the books they’re based on, this movie may not be something you’re into at first because it is WAY more closely related to the horror/weird fiction mystery side of the books. Sorry for the rant, y’all. Just really stoked that my favorite fictional character of all time has been done justice after reading four thousand reviews dumping all over the movie. Again, it’s not Citizen Kane, but it’s definitely one excellent Hellboy movie.
This movie will be enjoyed by someone who loves comics. Yes there was gore and horrific scenes. This movie definitely appeals to someone who loves violence, dark and disturbing action, but that's what it is made to be. Coming to visuals of the movie, they are good. But I felt that, the storyline was rushed a little bit. Characters should have been given a chance to develop a little. And some of the attempts at making comedy were not so good, they might appeal to only a certain sections of people. So this movie appeals to only a certain section of people. Critics have given negative reviews for the same reason. Well it is watchable only if you like these type of movies, so better decide before spending your bucks.
You will never realize how much you need Guillermo del Toro in your life until you see the reboot of “Hellboy.” Long gone are the master filmmaker’s stylistic signatures: his meticulous eye for detail in the biggest monster and tiniest fairy, his deft tonal balance of the weird and the whimsical, and—above all else—an obvious affection for his creatures, both good and evil. Instead, under the watch of director Neil Marshall, we get empty bombast and a million bloody ways to rip a body to pieces, too few of which are inventive. Marshall takes over for del Toro, who directed the original 2004 “Hellboy” and its sequel, 2008’s “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” films that were an ideal pairing of director and star with Ron Perlman as the wisecracking, half-demon superhero. And while it would be a daunting task for anyone to follow in those esteemed footsteps, Marshall—who mostly has horror films and television credits to his name, including “Game of Thrones”—allowed his take on the character to spiral wildly out of control. Granted, that’s partly the point. The script from Andrew Cosby, based on Mike Mignola’s Dark Horse comic series, is cheekily anachronistic and self-aware. It’s also bloated with its many flashbacks and tangents introducing more characters and subplots than anyone could possibly follow. And this “Hellboy” really wallows in every last drop of its R-rating whereas the previous films were PG-13, upping the graphic violence, profanity, and overall gnarliness. It’s the further Deadpool-ization of an already irreverent and inappropriate character, and—for a little while—it’s admittedly kind of a kick. But just because a movie is ridiculous and knows it’s ridiculous, that doesn’t automatically make its ridiculousness work. “Hellboy” stops being fun when it stops being funny—when it abruptly shifts gears into a more relentlessly bloody, violent mood. And eventually, the film reaches a point of extreme, overindulgent insanity. Even that might have been more tolerable, though, if the action sequences were choreographed and staged in a more thrilling manner. Instead, we get crude, computer-generated brutality, choppily edited to the tune of overplayed rock anthems like Alice Cooper’s “Welcome to My Nightmare” and Mötley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart
Hellboy (2019) is the third Hellboy movie, based on the nineties Mike Mignola comic. It’s a “reboot” that ignores the two previous Hellboy movies, directed by Guillermo Del Toro and starring Ron Perlman. The very first shot features a bird slurping eye-whites from an unlucky corpse. The direction and acting is quite impressive , and altogether you can watch this movie with your friends.
The movie is wonderfully made but not upto our expectations even though the movie tries its best to stay true to the source material. Also acting and direction is impressive but the story is quite boring and not time worthy. The things that bothered me the most were mostly the bad choice of the chapter from the main material to make a reboot that nobody wanted or needed. Altogether I suggest go and watch this movie once
I love the main actor as HellBoy, and some of the tracks played were bangin'. Bad Points: The story is disjointed and most of the editing is incredibly sloppy(like a bad anime). They really should have slowed down and taken the time to explore each character and give the audience a chance to experience a deeper world.(Maybe this movie could have been broken into a 8 episode series or something, way too much to digest within the given small window). The villain was lackluster and not really much of a threat. If they really wanted to focus on how humans treated him differently and how he was technically an outcast in both worlds, then they really should have focused more on character development than jumpy CGI fights. There were small bits in the dialogue and story that just nicked the surface of a giant iceberg of information and character building that could have been tapped; instead they went straight to some hardcore sloppy fight scenes. Cheesiest R rated film I've seen, overall I would not recommend this movie until you can rent it on Google Play
Yet another big blockbuster action movie based on a comic is the base of Hellboy. A few people had mentioned this movie before it came out and reassured me it would be good, but it was the opposite. If you enjoy the comic books or are a fan of action and science fiction, you might even enjoy this movie. If you're not stay away. Could have been better. Decent acting, Good effects but very lousy story. Nevertheless, they were still entertaining !!
Just because Del Toro isnt directing and Hellboy isnt Perlman doesnt mean this film should be getting slammed unfairly the way it is. it's a new vision and adaptation that actually works even better as far as following comic source material. The action and pacing is intense and the horror aspects are really well blended. People keep slandering the cgi and honestly its excellent cgi. The story blends many different particular comics together and it works. David Harbor gives a lot of great character to hellboy as well. Just see this and pay no mind to delusional biased critics and haters. It's a fun adaptation.
Adult fans of the HB comics series (25 years old and still being produced), have the advantage of familiarity with the extensive, highly imaginative canon, and should enjoy this separate comicsverse reboot. I've distanced my critique from comparisons to the original two movies directed by Guillermo Del Toro, and starring the legendary Ron Perlman. A good many media reviewers have been far too unkind to 'Hellboy 2019', and prospective audiences should not be unduly influenced against it, and stay away. The rating of age 18+ already serves to restrict attendance, due to the frank gory violence.
Not so good remake of the older version. story falls behind compared to the awesome visuals. While the first two movies were more entertaining - this one doesn't live upto the hype created earlier. Also there are more gore elements. So better look out for that. I won't recommend this movie to other viewers.

The new Hellboy was a helluva good time. Yes, it's different from the previous two films. But give it a chance. Harbour does a fantastic job as Hellboy. And the movie draws far more on the source/comic material than the previous films. If you loved the comics, you'll enjoy this movie. Plenty of humor, action, and fantasy to hold your interest.
Total waste of money and is extremely disappointing. I didn't expected this after watching Guillermo del Toro's version of Hellboy. The problem of this movie is it's extra loud and unwanted action scenes.David Harbour's Hellboy does not suit for this role.Direction is also a bad point. I will not recommend this movie.
