Dev posted a review for Tenet (2020) in Movies

Tenet is the noisiest most obnoxious film I've ever sat through. The 'plot' as near as I could see, is something to do with with the world ending because in the future someone invented a way to inverse time so objects can move backwards through time in strange ways. Ergo, people, cars, bullets etc. It is a terrible, barely comprehensible mess. At times the deafeningly awful music is only made worse by endless loud shootouts and car chases that literally drown out the dialogue. But although that gave me a headache that's not the worst part. Kenneth Branagh plays a Ukrainian Oligarch villain and puts in the worst performance of his life. A golden raspberry is guaranteed for his growling, gurning performance that comes across as more camp than threatening. The lead protagonist is played John David Washington, who was so brilliant in Black Klansman, here he looks hopelessly lost, mouthing incomprehensible dialogue that he clearly doesn't understand amid the chaos. I will never watch another Christopher Nolan film. I would only recommend Tenet to people who enjoy headaches, feeling confused and being cheated out of several hours of their life I didn't like this movie!

Dev posted a review for Unhinged (2020) in Movies

This movie is critic-proof. Is not good at all, and the end comes too quick. But it is hot outside, Covid-19 has destroyed our social life, and Cameron Crowe looks like John Goodman having a very bad day. What's not to like? It would be even better if they amped the violence (of which there's quite a few scenes). Completely illogical but some sequences are satisfying in a primal way. The era of the fall of the American Empire is full of rage. i have give only 3/5 star to this. this is an average movie

Dev posted a review for Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020) in Movies

Interestingly, the film surpasses expectations. Not once did i feel bored and Pankaj Tripathi.. Wow!! His love for his daughter and the determination in him to get her into the IAF, the motivation he provides by saying "If you marry by leaving your job, you will do exactly what girls have been doing till date!" Jahnvi is good still raw but can do better. Vineet Singh as an army officer in Betaal looked unconvincing but here he's improved a lot. The climax is really good and i dont know why VFX is criticized because it doesn't look fake at all. Hence from my side, i would give it a 3.50/5

Dev posted a review for Brightest Blue (2020) in Music

Loved ellie for years. This album is not a disappointment. Listening to the album over and over, at least 5 times through now. There are still new things to discover, meanings and connections, both recurring themes in her songs, and between her other albums. I’m in love with how ellie has transformed herself over the years. her sound isn’t just changing; she’s growing. She is a remarkable artist, and I’m excited to see where she goes from here.

Dev posted a review for Shakuntala Devi (2020) in Movies

The purest celebration of India's supreme lady Mathematician late Shakuntala Devi makes its way to the audiences in the form of Shakuntala Devi the Movie. The story revolves around the life and rise of Shakuntala Devi and travels back and forth in the 19's and 20's all the way from Bangalore landscapes to London heights. Released on Amazon Prime Video it is already climbing up on the numbers while gaining a lot of love from the audience. Vidya Balan stuns in the lead while Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh do complete justice to their individual roles in this perfectly curated story. A story which not only talks about all the achievements of the great Shakuntala Devi and how she brought India as a land of Maths to a global level but also leaves a very strong message about the value of family and relations which one often tends to neglect in front of limelight. There are many situational songs which uplift the movie's spirit, many emotional scenes, moments that make you feel proud of her achievements and most importantly it's a movie which can be well enjoyed with family members with a clean portrayal of the story.
