Sobha posted a review for The Croods: A New Age (2020) in Movies
I usually fall asleep during kid movies and as I watched I couldn't fall asleep and stayed awake the whole movie. There were many times I was laughing along with my child and even unexpected moments. The movie had a new story not just a copy of the first. The animation and colors used for scenes were just as great as the first no cutting corners for this movie. I loved the Thunder Sister and gran's hair. Everyone will love this movie its a wonderful distraction from the pandemic

Sobha posted a review for Laxmii (2020) in Movies
One who doesn't believe in ghosts get the taste of it — a popular formula done before and not dusted yet. Yes, Laxmii cannot just be dusted off as it's the official Hindi remake of Tamil horror-comedy flick Kanchana. Akshay Kumar stepped into the shoes of Raghava Lawrence, who not only played the lead but also helmed the original film. When the trailer was dropped we got to see everything but not who the actual transgender was, the role originally played by R. Sarathkumar in Tamil film. The plot starts with Akshay Kumar and his wife Kiara Advani being called by her mother to pay a visit for the 25th wedding anniversary. Her parents' anniversary and Kiara's elder brother's role is played by Manu Rishi and wife Ashwini Kalsekar (Ummm... something to think about). Akshay plays the role of Asif, a Muslim guy who finds it hard to get accepted by Kiara's family. But that wasn't an important element at all. He comes, he conquers their hearts and gets possessed by a transgender's spirit in no time. It is a visual treat to watch Akshay turn into Laxmii as those were the most enjoyable moments of the film. His expressions, dialogue deliveries and the walk, show that he can go to any length to get into the skin of hisThe initial build-up of showing spookiness can be scary for a minuscule number of people who are not into horror movies at all. The film tries to become a comedy flick with over-the-top acting by the cast and not-so-funny one-liners. Well, Kanchana was also all about that! Raghava Lawrence forayed into Bollywood with his forte of horror-comedy but Kanchana is a decade-old formula. Bollywood redefined horror-comedy with Stree released in 2018 which set a high benchmark for the genre. The film's only X-factor is Akshay Kumar and watching him in a different space. The female lead Kiara Advani has nothing much to do but her cherubic look and subtle face bring calming moments in the film.

Sobha posted a review for Chhalaang (2020) in Movies
Chhalaang's most genuine attribute are its actors. Satish Kaushik as Montu's serene father sharing pearls of wisdom over Scotch is a treat. Baljinder Kaur's eternally protesting mom brings on the spunk. Saurabh Shukla's reliable support and Ila Arun's spontaneous sass spice the proceedings. As competent Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is in Chhalaang, he is shockingly sidelined for a formidable foe. Ditto for the delightful Naman Jain, you'll remember him as the adorable Katrina Kaif fan in Bombay Talkies, whose romantic arc is abruptly nipped in the bud to focus on a routine hubba hubba. On the other hand, Nushrratt gets some of the meatiest lines which she bungles with her wobbly Haryanvi accent. Hands down, the star of the show is Rajkummar Rao. There's not much challenge for him in terms of histrionics or characterisation. What he infuses Montu with is tons of earnest, endearing energy.

Sobha posted a review for 100% Wolf (2020) in Movies
This decent Australian family animation, about a werewolf boy who transforms into a fluffy poodle instead of a ferocious hound, zips along with plenty of zany action and some passable gags. But it looks cheap and the script might have been generated by a computer program that had been fed with plotlines from earlier, better kids’ films – the big debt is to The Lion King. As for the bland lessons about friendship and being yourself, even preschoolers must be rolling their eyes at this stuff by now.

Sobha posted a review for Scam 1992 (Web Series 2020) in Movies
Initially, Scam 1992 may seem like a socialist story of taking back power from the resourceful and re-distributing it amongst the public, where it emerges from and rightfully belongs. Caution, it comes out to be far from that. Rather, it captures the spirit of Bombay beautifully, which is that the city does not slumber even at night and rises like a phoenix from its ashes.
