Who doesn't like fairy tales! We all love fairy tales more or less, regardless of age. If the character in this story is a talking dragon, then there is no question - absolutely checkmate. The name of the movie is Raya and the Last Dragon. The story depicts a very ancient civilization of a kingdom called Kumandra. It is said that humans and dragons lived together as friends in that kingdom. The story of this movie is about a dragon, a realm of imagination and a warrior named Raya. Every story has its own twist, needless to say this story too - but it doesn't feel like it's the same story or any other movie, if that's my personal opinion. Anyway - let's just say I'm going to share the twist of the story - there are villains in all the stories, just as there are in it. Monsters invaded this imaginary realm of happiness in the past, when dragons sacrificed themselves to save all mankind. But again, those monsters are preparing to attack almost 500 years later.

Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people

Disney is back with great animation, fantastic sound and awesome visuals. Many, many years ago, there was a civilization called Kumandra, where dragons and humans lived happily together. But happiness does not always exist - sorrow will come. Even in this happy kingdom, monsters attack and dragons sacrifice themselves to save the mankind. It is better not to tell the rest of the story, then there is no interest in watching. But everyone likes animation. The movie is quite worth watching in all respects.

Disney is on their best again letting us experience an emotional rollercoaster that solidified that story-driven narrative. It made a good audience impact by clearly portraying that we should set our differences aside, we should help each other, and shoulder our burdens together, and not just be content to put them aside. I really liked the part when Sisu the dragon motivated Raya and said "It may feel impossible, but sometimes you just have to take the first step, even before you're ready". Great characters amplified by the story and plot. I've seen films with similar themes or storylines about unification, peace, or "bringing the world together", but this film is "CREATIVELY UNIQUE".

Raya and the Last Dragon has a simple story, yet it dug deeper with mature character developments and a fantastic world building with elements of fantasy. The movie will be surely loved by children and the family as a whole as it has all the elements present to give a wow factor to the audience. The animation is top-notch. The main credit should be given to the amazing voice cast who did an outstanding job who gave the characters more life than it could breathe. Moreover, the fighting sequences in the film are at a whole another level, kudos to the director. Rest assured, this film will definitely take some awards back home.

I went into this film thinking that it was going to be a generic Disney template movie, but I was proven wrong. The animation and the storyline are brilliant and the world building is some of the best I have ever seen. The take home message of trust, hope, and forgiving your enemies is fantastic, and desperately needed, especially now. The fight scenes were executed beautifully and I was thoroughly invested the whole way through. The characters were fully formed with complex personalities, which made them almost seem real. As a woman of color, it feels amazing to get strong representation on the silver screen. Congratulations to the cast and crew for a job well done. Bravo, Disney, you've done it again.

This movie is beautiful to look at but the story is just meh. Comparing this to Moana makes it even worse. While I appreciate the diversity of the cast, they should have spent a bit more to get better voice actors and a better script. It does make me excited for the next movie they put out, hopefully they will spend more time on story.

I was looking forward to watch this movie, Soul really surprised me with a pretty good and enjoyable story so i expected the same from this one, but it wasn't the case. The writing in Raya and the last dragon is very poor, the story is predictable as it gets and the villain's are bad just because, there is no background no motive, it makes me wonder what is making them act like that and the movie is not explaining or giving me any clues. when something happens just for the convenience of the script and not because is reasonable or makes any sense. Now the dragon, one of the main characters, i expected it to be introduced late in the movie and imagined a very big moment with a explosions of color and a majestic dragon emerging from the water, none of that happened instead you get an insurable annoying "dragon" with the personality of a teenager that tries to be funny and fails miserably.

Sajan posted a review for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in Movies

Raya and the Last Dragon marks the arrival of a new princess in the Disney kingdom, and is truly astounding to look at but the film as a whole has no original voice of its own. Directed by Don Hall & Carlos López Estrada, the story hurries us through its own mythology and doesn't spend enough time to strengthen the foundations before the main plot surfaces. Add to that, it expects the viewers to be invested in Raya's journey without putting in the effort that would compel us to do the same. There are familiar beats & predictable subplots here, plus it plays safe instead of risking anything. While some characters are interesting, others are annoying. Humor also falls flat, for the film tries too hard. The emotional moments pack a punch but isn't allowed to stay afloat for long enough to deliver the goods. The animation is breathtaking for sure. Its richness, color depth, lighting & rendering is almost immaculate. The background score by James Newton Howard is also a plus. And the voice cast play their roles responsibly as well.

Thickna posted a review for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in Movies

Raya and the Last Dragon is enjoyable & entertaining, and will manage to satisfy most but there isn't anything new or different about it. Visually it may look richer & resonant but the underlying flavors are all the same. From a storytelling perspective, it is formulaic. From a creative standpoint, only its animation is worth noting. Nonetheless, despite the conventional treatment, there is a sense of fun & lighthearted quality to it that makes the ride pleasant enough.

Ester posted a review for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in Movies

This movie is gorgeous to look at. The visuals alone represent a masterful achievement from Disney, it's hard not to concentrate only in the amazing animation that surrounds the movie. The voice acting is also great and the basic premise of the story is incredibly creative. However the movie is far from perfect; it mainly uses the same Disney formula that everyone knows by heart, creating a story that, although creative and well presented, feels repetitive and incredibly predictable. The humor in the movie falls flat at times and it can take the viewer out of the suspension of disbelief bubble that is required from a movie like this. Overall Raya and the last dragon is a proof that the Disney formula can work, however it falls flat in comparison to other films that the studio has done in the past.

Vishal posted a review for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in Movies

Well Disney is back on the screen with its amazing animations, sound and visuals . Maya and the last dragon movie is about a girl who lives in a jungle where people from centuries have been fighting . So in order to bring peace she went on the trip to find the last dragon and then there is the story. According to me the movie is worth watching because we all know the Disney animation quality in the animated movies. Plot is good and quite exciting. Visuals were good . Animation were quite sharp and eye catching. I would rate this movie 4 out of 5.
