The purest celebration of India's supreme lady Mathematician late Shakuntala Devi makes its way to the audiences in the form of Shakuntala Devi the Movie. The story revolves around the life and rise of Shakuntala Devi and travels back and forth in the 19's and 20's all the way from Bangalore landscapes to London heights.
Released on Amazon Prime Video it is already climbing up on the numbers while gaining a lot of love from the audience.
Vidya Balan stuns in the lead while Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh do complete justice to their individual roles in this perfectly curated story. A story which not only talks about all the achievements of the great Shakuntala Devi and how she brought India as a land of Maths to a global level but also leaves a very strong message about the value of family and relations which one often tends to neglect in front of limelight. There are many situational songs which uplift the movie's spirit, many emotional scenes, moments that make you feel proud of her achievements and most importantly it's a movie which can be well enjoyed with family members with a clean portrayal of the story.

The Perfect weekend watch movie! This Family Light Comic Biopic Certainly takes You into the world of the super genius and the super Intellectual Shakuntala Devi in the most entertaining way and with her way of dealing her life in an enthusiastically stressfree manner , yet this movie indirectly has a lot more to offer its audience ; In terms of The Sacrifices The Mothers make, and just in case some of them let their dreams fulfilled , they are so easily reprimanded of their title of Motherhood ! This movie very beautifully answers this dilemma with the climax ! Also the Comic timing , the humor , the jolly light moments leave us with more cravings for her! And esp., the relationship between Mothers and Daughters is so beautifully showcased , that you just can't miss out on this flick ! Thank you to the content makers for bringing into light to this generation the HUMAN COMPUTER, the pride of India in Mathematics , SHAKUNTALA DEVI !!! I BET noone would have played her Better than the gorgeously charming and versatile Vidya Balan! OVERALL A FULL FLEDGED BLOCKBUSTER YOU SHOULDN'T MISS AT ALL! :)

Shankuntala Devi’ not only explores the mathematician’s fascinating relationship with numbers but her relationships beyond it as well – especially her life as a mother and a woman. If Shankuntala Devi’s intriguing journey which started off as a three-year-old solving difficult math problems and doing her own shows across schools was not remarkable enough – her fearless and independent spirit as a young woman in the 1950’s, who lived by her own rules adds to her dazzling persona. One which she fiercely protects through every stage of her life.‘Why should I be normal, when I can be amazing?’ Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan) asks her daughter Anupama (Sanya Malhotra), when during a skirmish the Nice kovie

Just loved it.... Everyone should know about the story of a woman who made India proud.. Vidya was just fab as Ms.shakuntala ji..looks like she owned it completely.. Ms.Shakuntala ji is the perfect example of an independent woman. The perspective of a woman having her own image and her own voice are perfectly portrayed in the movie. The dialogues were quite entertaining and emotions even are extraordinary. Everybody has done a great job. Especially the climax was too good and it cleared the dilemma about the emotions that existed between mother and daughter. The daughter mother relation is shown on the same level alongside Maths. Worth watching!! Loved it

Shakuntala Devi Movie Review: It's easy to be put in the shade when the star is this good but Sanya Malhotra conveys to perfection the emotions of a girl at odds with her mother's global fame. warm, whippy dramatization of the life of an extraordinary woman whose head for numbers is the stuff of legend, Shakuntala Devi is consistently entertaining and emotionally engaging, a triumph for both director Anu Menon and lead actress Vidya Balan.

So we have this superhero in Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan) who has this supernatural power to do mental Math faster than a computer. She has been brilliant with numbers since her childhood. With some internal issues with her mother, Shakuntala wants to travel around the world and hates to stick at a place (she says, ‘only trees stick at one place’). Shakuntala starts doing Math shows all around the world charming people with her sharp brainy skills. Falls in love faces an abrupt heartbreak, falls in love again, have internal issues and how she faces them along with wearing the superheroes cape is what the rest of story is about.

So Movie starts with with Shakuntala Devi as a prodigious child who calculates very fast. Moving on further it shows her harsh relations with father and relations which turned bitter fter she moved to london. Story and acting are hats off ,perfectly done but movie was streched alot but showing a emotional anhle everywhere. Verdict:Story is nice but it could represented in a more interesting way.

We can't find reasons for everything just like that u can't say how Ms Shakuntla devi can calculate such big and vast numbers in her head in just seconds . The movie Shakuntla devi is based on the life of a girl who can just calculate numbers in her and the most surprising thing is that she haven't went to school for that too. From childhood only she started doing shows to present her mathematical skills to earn money for the family and after becoming young she went to foreign countries for that where she even won against fastest computer of world and then she was named world fastest computer. It's a complete movie package of story ,family drama thriller and everything . Must watch movie .

The movie was well made and well acted. However the plot is totally from the daughters biased eyes and shows S.Devi in a negative light. I thought this was an attempt to understand and showcase the legend to a new generation. Fails miserably and leaves a bad taste for folks expecting to relive the life of a legend.

Based on the life journey of profoundly known Human computer aka Shakuntala Devi, the film tries to fit in her 84 glorious years in 120 minutes screen time. The film stabs to touch major life milestones of her life from her genius mathematics career to conflict with her own daughter and to her dilemma in life to her flawed rapport with her husband. But the film fails to bring out her psyche, mental vows and keeps spinning around her analogous achievements throughout. Many of her vital scenes are mere caricaturist portrayal to make it look breezy and to reflect her sense of humor with no depth in it. No doubt Balan tries hard with her accents, body language, hiatuses but still the film lacks in clarity of thought.

A biographical drama on the life of Shakuntala Devi, the renowned mathematician, whose astounding skills of solving complex math problems in record time won her admiration and awe, the world over. Ultimately ‘Shakuntala Devi’ is a joy to watch simply to soak in the fascinating life and times of the maths whiz - a human computer faster than an actual computer, the free-spirit, who was all that and so much more! Vidya Kasam, don’t give this one a miss.

I don't think there has been any such film in Bollywood before. The name of the movie - Shakuntala Devi which is made up of the story of a deadly feminist, independent, successful woman. The central character of the movie but surrounded by a girl. The movie is good enough and can be seen by everyone in the family. The movie shows a girl named Shakuntala, who never went to school, there was no one to guide her or no one did. But there is a brain that likes to play with numbers. This story of affection, expectation, despair of restless mothers. From this point on, the director has been able to articulate it fairly. I loved the movie. Directed by: Anu Menon Rating: 13 Duration: 2 hour 07 min Genre: Family Drama Release Date: 31/07/2020 Cast: Vidya Balan, Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh and many more My Verdict: Plot - 4/5 Soundtrack - 3/5 Characters - 4/5 Directions - 4/5

Watched this film only for Vidya Balan and she nailed it. Though a bit overconfident and over-enthusiastic in few places, Vidya keeps you hooked throughout the film. Sanya Malhotra's performance is commendable. The movie is not a biopic of Shakuntala Devi but the high and low of mother-daughter relationship. The songs are forgotable and so are the dialouges. Overall okay film.

Great watch movie. This movie shows inspiring life of genius mathematician shakuntala devi where in 1st half was fast and okay but when it shows family problems and drama movie gives you interest at the end it shows emotional scene as great ending. Vidya balan's acting was overeacting on 1st half but awesome. Sanya malhotra gives excellent performance as daughter and Amit sadh and jisshu sengupta was perfect for in there role. Music was not good enough and bgm was also just good.

A very poorly made biopic that I am now ashamed to admit that I was very eagerly awaiting because of the mathematical centrality but alas this film was turned into another common melodramatic bollywood disappointment. So essence of the film (mathematics) is lost in translation or by poorly and lazily written film writer, editors and directors. Lots of arcs are forced into and the acting have been ghastly. Shakuntala Devi is not a film you expect and not in a good way, it is a poorly made and terribly directed movie. The potential of a very good story ruined, perhaps and maybe, one day a much better biopic of this extraordinary woman mathematician will be remade but until then don't watch this one for shakuntala devi or maths, find something else.

The extraordinary story of Shakuntala Devi, the world-renowned mathematician who lived her life on her own terms. While the film pays tribute to her genius as a mathematician, it also humanizes her as a woman and mother, in trying to capture her indomitable spirit. Told through the lens of her relationship with her daughter Anu, the film highlights their very different struggles and aspirations.Vidya Balan steals the show, when she's on screen, can't help but watch her transform from the chirpy young girl to a woman with her own struggles. This biopic is great way to let people know about indian talent in mathematics.

This biopic is based on the late "Shakunthala Devi" from Bangalore, India; also known as the world's human computer. The leading intelligent woman who made it to guiness book of records for her exceptional ability to crack the toughest mathematical problems in a flash of seconds. The story revolves around the challenges she faced to become a renowned mathematician. Her journey from a troubled childhood to a being a troubled parent is beautifully portrayed. The movie not just shows the beauty of her mind but also includes the intricacies of her personal life and her struggles; troubled relationship with her father, troubled relationship with her daughter and her failed marriage with her husband. How everything falls apart and eventually fall together. A must watch flim.

The film Shakuntala Devi, starring Vidya Balan in lead role portraying the character of Shakuntala Devi, directed by Anu Menon, is an attempt to understand how Shakuntala's love for maths, and the glory that accompanied it, informed every aspect of her life, and especially strained her relationship with her daughter.

Born into poverty in Bangalore, Devi is obliged to flee India after shooting a no-good suitor, eventually landing in postwar Britain, where a Spanish Henry Higgins (Luca Calvani) helps to polish her broken English. the eponymous heroine, Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan), was a phenomenal, Guinness World Records-noted mathematician who performed for many decades in the 20th century under the stage name the Human Computer. The movie finds funny ways of dramatising the process whereby one generation of women squares its frustrations with another – but it adds up to spirited, intelligent, authentically feminist entertainment.

Typical Bollywood masala movie. Overdramatic and bizzare script. Just like Bollywood ruined mission mangal they have successfully ruined the movie. At least the makers would have watched the man who knew infinity. Poor script and direction. Acting of Vidya Balan and all others except Santa Malhotra is top class.
