Sid
Salesman Aman Tripathi and Kartik Singh find love in the capital city of Delhi, where they live in oblivion and their relationship grows and blossoms without being frowned upon. However problems start to crop up when the two decide to go back to Allahabad and convince Aman's Orthodox parents for their approval.
All in all this movie will give small town parents the much needed nudge and maybe, in a distant future, they will have the strength to accept their offspring for who they are. But, for now, watch it for the performance and the 'chaska' of love, with two men pouring their hearts out for the world to see and accept.

Ayushmann Khuranna's depiction of the smooth-talking, with a devil-may-care-less attitude, Kartik is a delight to watch on screen and he more than makes up for the damage. His unabashed ability to love at all times grows on you, and his on-screen characteristic trait of being hilarious at odd, awkward moments is what makes him the right fit for this role. Writer-director Hitesh Kewalya's 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan' is no straight-talker, instead, it takes time to build up and heighten the drama. And subsequently, madness ensues following a steamy make-out session gone horribly wrong.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is one of the few mainstream Hindi films that wears its gay heart proudly on its rainbow cape, treating sexuality as a cause of celebration, directing the shame and humiliation at those trying to inflict it. The ‘those’ here are a predictable lot: Aman’s family, in whose Allahabad household the drama mostly unspools. Another aspect that stands out in the film is its subversion of iconic Bollywood characters and moments which have so far existed in a heteronormative context.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN, just like it's predecessor, has a very sensitive topic (or at least in India it's very sensitive) as it's plot, and it somehow managed to nail it. This film blends both comedy and message flawlessly. Kudos to Director Hitesh. He could have made his debut with a typical Bollywood film. But he chose one sensitive topic, the topic which is still pretty controversial in our society, Gay relationship. He narrated/presented the film in such a way that neither you'll get bored nor you'll feel uncomfortable. Ayushmann khurana and Jeetu acted very well. Their chemistry is good. It's a must watch Bollywood film of this year (2020). Bollywood should these kind of films instead of sticking to some limited genres.

This is a family entairtainer and it amazingly glorifies the plot of the film and the main focus is unwaveringly on homophobia. The performances of all the actors in the movie are mind-blowing. I loved the way how Jeetendra Kumar acted in the movie and helped Ayushman's brilliance to be showered on the screen as well.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a boy's film predominantly and boy's films are always fun. The chemistry between Ayushmann Khurrana, Jitendra Kumar and Gajraj Rao is what makes the script come alive. In fact, I won't be wrong in stating that their sense of humor is very much in sync with each other. This is Jitendra Kumar's best work to date, no two opinions on it. Ayushmann Khurrana gets yet another demanding role and the actor, who has already impressed us with his acting skills, casts a spell yet again. Gajraj Rao is incredible. Neena Gupta is the scene-stealer actually. As a matter of fact, the performances by these actors will be the talking point once the film releases. Manu Rishi Chaddha is in top form yet again. Maanvi Gagroo has a naturally endearing screen presence. She does add 'weight' to her character. Sunita Rajwar and PankhurI Awasthy are equally competent and have an important part in the madness.

Varsha posted a review for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in Movies
Ayushmann Khurrana continues to opt for subjects usually regarded taboos in mainstream Hindi Cinema with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and the result is both predictable and amusing. The opening scene of this romantic comedy manages to squeeze a wide smile out of you. The mood and tone is essentially satirical and puny, laced with melodrama that works at times but feels a little too far-fetched on several occasions. Also, since the film is primarily invested in the small-town drama pertaining to the taboo around same-sex relationships, the writer-director fails to tap on the elements exclusive to small cities and restricts the plotline to one conventional family which snatches away the potential of SMZS being a believable watch. But if Ayushmann highjacks the film with his infectious energy, a mellow Jitendra balances it out with his poker-faced humour and the relatability factor that he maintains throughout the film; a natural. It's safe to say that the rest of the cast, too, has been handpicked with much thought. All in all, may be in distant future, small-town parents will have the strength to accept their offsprings for who they are. But, for now, watch it for the performances and the 'chaska' of love, with two men pouring their hearts out for the world to see and accept

When finest yet underrated actors of industry get together for a movie, it becomes a piece of art. Jeetu, Manvi Gagroo, Gajraj Rao performed fantastically and their acting is so natural and classic that movie flows like a river. I have no words for Ayushman Khurana, I am sure he has stamped his name in millions-billions of hearts after this movie. Dialogue delivery, story, music everything were well worked. There must be real talents working hard behind the scenes for this movie. It deserves to be a blockbuster. Go and watch with your family.

This movie is about love and in each scene as the couple stand strong and fight all - I see two people who want to be with each other at any cost. The chemistry they share is very intense and the entire script is drafted in a very believable manner. The cast obviously was a treat to watch as always and not for a single moment did I feel that it is the actors but rather the characters that we are watching which was a complete thrill and joy.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYAADA SAVDHAN - Some level entertaining. Presently that is what we call a dynamic film. Living by the desires Ayushman Khurana conveys one more pearl, a film that inconspicuously conveys a message to the general public to be progressive this is conveyed in an extremely comical and fun way without being too sermonizing or average . The film is high on diversion and you make certain to have burdens and huge amounts of LOL minutes in the films to giggle out on . All and all its an unquestionable requirement watch in the films and you will cherish this film for the mix of emotion, humour, social message and peculiar jokes sponsored by astounding execution by the cast .

The acting by all the players is great. Ayushman as usual is charming and very watchable, but Jeetu is even better. The film is pretty bold with the kissing, which happens in the most public of spaces, like at a wedding. The only reason I haven't given it ten stars is because the director hasn't been able to keep up the manic pace the movie starts with. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan could have done with some better editing. There are extraneous sub-plots parts that are a bit tedious. But the music is great and the movies is a fun watch.

Ayushman Khurana has excelled at his character as did his counter hero as a newcomer. The good old Nina Gupta has played her role with her old cinematic prowess. Nonetheless it might a bit confusing for many international viewers to understand even what is happening other than the homosexual part, because many scenarios involve very intrinsic Indian social values an customs. This is a good starter for a new genre in Bollywood and hopefully induce thinking among the future directors for incorporating gay characters. It will teach them another way of portraying gays in mainstream movies.

Tineesh posted a review for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in Movies
This movie is definitely a movie which was needed for the Indian audience in order to start talking about homosexuality. This is a conversation starter for those who are having vague ideas or a rather pejorative view of homosexuality. Not the first one in the category though, it has brought in the topic of homosexuality for the common people with a popular mainstream comedy. Most of the so called gay themed movies in Bollywood so far had a rather bleak picture of homosexuality. Examples are many including I am, Bombay Boys, My brother Nikhil, Bombay Talkies, Aligarh, Loev(Netflix), Sisak (short film). Dostana from 2008 made a mockery of the topic. But this one has shown gay love with a hint on how it could be even celebrated. This was needed because the gay community, in spite of their social issues thrive among themselves. The love between two individuals can be seen as love between two individuals and not which gender they possess.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN’s starts off on a funny note and the subplot of black cauliflower appears hilarious. Devika's (Bhumi Pednekar) scene too adds to the fun. The scene where Shankar Tripathi catches the lovers kissing brings the house down. Scenes like Aman kissing Kartik in full public view and Aman talking to his parents about dopamine and other such stuff keep the interest going. Post interval however, the film drops. The scenes are supposed to be funny but don't make you laugh. Also it becomes too preachy and unconvincing. The makers try their best to make things interesting but it doesn't work On the whole, SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN is a decent attempt and makes an interesting comment on homophobia which exists in our country. At the box office, it has the chance to work with the urban audiences, especially the youth. However, it will be a challenge to bring in family audiences and the audiences from small towns and cities. The presence of Ayushmann Khurrana may give a boost to its collections.

First of all i want to say about Ayushman Khurrana. He is done a great job in this film. He always try to gave his 100% for any character. In this film, He act very well as a Gay and manage to explain the audience, about feelings between two same sex. This film try to explain the moral thinking of the world. I like one dialogue "Shadi th do aatmao ka mail h", so he try to explain that even religion never discriminate about homosexuality. Also the film also concluded with Indian constitution section no. 370. well directed by the director and well executed by the actor's. comedy done by the other actors are great. Please go and watch this movie.

Ayushmaan has added another feather in his cap. There are no words to describe his performance. Still I'll try..extraordinary, exceptional, brilliant, superlative....and so on. He's shining as gay, who's more confident (I mean on screen) than his partner, the debutante Jitendra Kumar's character, who's a bit shy and hesitant to open up about him with his family. But as an actor Jitendra Kumar is no less than the more experienced Ayushmaan as he delivers with much ease as Aman. These two look adorable on screen. Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta pair is here to stay. They are great here too after the fabulous Badhaai Ho. Other supporting casts have done a terrific job as well. The songs and their sequences are totally enjoyable.

The movie is brilliantly made and will restore your faith in love. It's just another love story, where the parents oppose and ultimately how the couple wins them over! Without being even a bit preachy, they have made it possible to wipe out the age old discrimination between relationships! Kudos to the entire team for such a sweet movie. Must watch for everyone. The whole cast was so perfect that no one felt out of place and in fact made the characters tailor made for them. Ayushman simply rocked, both in his role and in his script selection. Jitendra Kumar says it loud that he is here to stay and gives a mind blowing performance.

The movie moved me so much that I have decided to post a public review. 90's kids who have grown up watching DDLJ, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, know romance and romantic gestures in a certain way. This movie will definitely bring back those memories. Other Ayushmann Khurrana movies talk about a social issue, the problems faced by people and how, we as a society, can accept it or at least acknowledge the existence of the problem. His movies made us aware of many such 'problems' which everyone knew existed but no one wants to talk about. That's why all his movies come in comic flavours, so that we can all watch it together and learn from it. But this movie, is certainly different. It doesn't pose homosexuality as a problem! This is the best part of the movie, which really moved me so much. This is the first Ayushmann Khurrana movie that I cried, multiple times, because I really couldn't hold back my tears, as those scenes were so very emotional! The movie has made all kinds of relationships so so normal, as it should be! There's no discrimination of a relationship based on the people involved in it. It's very romantic and equally so as DDLJ and others.

Ayushmann and Jitendra won the show. Neena Gupta was awesome as always and every character had a unique characteristic and contribution towards the entertaining framework of the screenplay. The movie depicts the battles same sex couples face everyday. The movie teaches the importance of being comfortable with oneself. Bold concept, dedicated artists and simple background will make this movie one of it's kind at the Box Office in a very long time. Thank you to the entire cast of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

A fun movie projecting a lot of arguments on a sensitive topic for Indian masses. It is nicely made, full of comic sequences and much needed score for making it an easy watch. It is an attempt at breaking taboo related to same sex relationships and the actors and side characters do a great job. The story could have been a little more elaborate but for the given time duration this movie attempts to project the mental quotient of both the sides, a homophobic society's and gay people. Nice attempt, a sequel on how the characters met in the first place should be made too, it will open the door to how scared the people are to come out in open. Good fun movie.

No doubt the film has extremely clever writing in terms of its one-liners, middle class nuances but SMJS doesn’t give ample time to get emotionally stringed with Ayushman & Jitendra’s love journey. The director (writer) has tried to coat everything under laughter, in your face educational monologues and unnecessary subplots. Hitesh Kewalya like the last edition portrays the family dynamics of an UP household and their inner turmoil with ease. In aggregate, the secondary cast has more depth in their character arc than the leads especially Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta & Manu. In some segments, the film is extra brash with deafening background sound design to make viewer feel comfortable with the scene. Overall a middling watch for masses ignorant about particular topic.

Deepesh posted a review for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in Movies
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan couches its misgivings about how its target audience will respond to the ticklish theme and deal with the questions that it raises in a bright, breezy and occasionally surreal social comedy that takes swipes at Bollywood's established notions of heroism (the screen persona of Amitabh Bachchan is frequently invoked) and heterosexual love (Laila-Majnu, Shirin-Farhad and Romeo-Juliet are alluded to). But the radicalism of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan has its limits. A smooch or two between the two men in love is all that the film is willing to risk. The homosexual lovers are understandably never shown in bed although they do discuss touch and sleeping together. To drive home the point that love, no matter of what kind it is, is science, Aman rattles off the names of a bunch of chemicals and hormones that excite physical passion - dopamine, cortasil, oxytocin. His parents, Shankar and Sunaina (Neena Gupta, outstanding), do not however budge from their belief that gay love is unnatural. The comic flights of fancy do not always take off in the right direction or land smoothly, but with the actors going all out to make the film work, some parts of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan are genuinely funny and quirky. The film may be erratic in parts, but its entertainment quotient is delightfully high for a film tackling a clash between conservatism and freedom, between tradition and modernity.

I have never been this excited for a film. Everything the cast, stills, trailer and songs took the excitement to next level. This was worth watching. Simply a laugh riot. Breaking the stereotypical norms about homosexuality or unisex love they portray a deep and enduring love story. I won't use the term gay-love story because the whole movie was about seeing love as love and about not relating love with one's sex. Be it a boy or a girl or Intersex, love is love. There are good comic frames, punchlines and funny bones throughout the movie which will make you ROFL. Songs were at best. The soothing voice of Ayushman in Mere Liye Tum Kaafi Ho shows the innocence of Karthik and Aman's relationship. All the other songs were soo beautifully choreographed so that even the audiences feels like they are dancing. The question of why is it always Jack and Jill and not Jack and Johny is recurrently asked and demands a serious thought about the same from the side of audience. There is no preaching or begging or crying for accepting unisex relationship, but only laughter, laughing at the taboos constructed and passed on by the society. Though the movie is a constant ROFL, it never loosened its grip about the core issue. The whole cast was so perfect that no one felt out of place and in fact made the characters tailor made for them. Ayushman simply rocked, both in his role and in his script selection. Jitendra Kumar says it loud that he is here to stay and gives a mind blowing performance. The chemistry between Aman and Karthik had out thrown all the 'perfect couple' notions and sets the new 'couple-goal' image. The whole Tripathi parivaar, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta everyone was so adorable. Hitesh Kewalya did a fantastic job by bringing in such an issue and made it a fine piece of art mixed with social commitments. This is a new start of normalizing the taboos. And according to me this is the best movie till date, which deals with homosexual love story. This is a must watch film. Go grab your tickets. Love is love!

This Hitesh Kewaliya directorial is a masterpiece in the sense that it has very courageously raised the issue of problems related to homosexuality in Indian society. The film is packed with some beautiful performances from Ace actors like Gajraj Rao , Neena Ji , Ayushman Khurana and the newbie to the industry, Jitendra Kumar . Each and every character has performed his/her bit in the movie exceptionally well except Jitendra , who despite of being a well known name in the digital space , lacks to match the performances of his co-stars in some part of the narative (especially his last monologue). The film has been shot mostly in a semi-urban household setting ,and the cinematograper is successful in capturing it beautifully . The music of the movie is quite average , especially the background score . All-over this movie is a must watch for everyone in our society because of the topic on which it is made . It has beautifully managed to raise the issue of Homosexuality and Homophobia , and then also it is very entertaing to watch because of some great dialogues with comical punches . The film is full of humour and doesn't give a sense of being a serious film and that is what is great about its writing .

Ehhhh..I don't know what do I feel about shubh mangal zyada savdhan... One one side..I'm happy that it's gaining popularity in masses and representing gay couple as the protagonists. On the other hand..I'm mad about them not casting actual LGBT actors. Plus...even the reception is good so far...people who made fun of me calling me lesbian(as a slur)are putting up statuses and what not. What vex me is that they won't be this accepting if they come across real homosexual couple or any lgbt member. Also..I don't think it would be hyped so much if the actor was not Ayushman. Ugh..why is it anything represented by male always so ..ugh?

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is just mindblowing and it'll keep you entertained throughout. I'd bet that your cheek bones will start aching in the first half as the punchlines are extraordinarily good that would make you laugh like hell. In the second half though, a lot of emotions are mixed with more punchlines and you would cry a bit, but the happy feeling is always there. Kudos to the director Hitesh Kewalya and yes he has achieved what he wanted to, by writing such a beautiful script and directing the same in the best way possible! The director has taken a sensitive topic, homosexuality, which is ofcourse legally approved in our country. However, it still remains a taboo in some parts of India. But, I think it may not be anymore after this movie's release. If more and more people from small towns watch this thought provoking film, which is told in a lighter way, the mindsets will change for sure and they would begin respecting and accepting the sexual orientation of their wards or loved ones for sure. Ayushmaan has added another feather in his cap. There are no words to describe his performance. Still I'll try...extraordinary, exceptional, brilliant, superlative....and so on. I'd again say that kudos to the director, as in this hilarious flick not a single scene is offending the LGBTQ community! A must watch and a repeated watch! Thanks much for reading my review guys!

Aayushman khurrana is the new superstar that Bollywood needed! His script selection was the need of the hour. Shubh Mangal zyaada saavadhan is all about a gay couple who wants to be together against all the odds and it's beautiful. The split is simple but served as hilarious entertainer with a solid message at the end. Characters like Goggle are a laugh riot and worked big time in the movie. Fantastic background score and I have only one complaint with the film - it would have been still better if they gave few more detailing about the aayushmann's father character. Apart from that everything was well dealt. For these kind of scripts there would be a thin line which makes the film either politically incorrect film or a need of the hour film and the director knows this and he never crossed that line. Great film - highly recommended!

Kartik Singh and Aman Tripathi are two young men who are in a same-sex relationship. Kartik has accepted that reality completely, but Aman is still a bit hesitant in opening up about his sexuality in the public. During a train journey, Aman’s father Shankar Tripathi finds out about this relationship and he just couldn’t handle the truth. The efforts of Shankar Tripathi to make his son marry a girl and the repercussions of that behavior are what the story of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan dealing with. In my opinion, Asuran, the most recent Dhanush- Vetrimaran movie wasn’t really a terrific movie in terms of craft when you compare it with what Vetrimaran has given us in the past. But there was something beyond the craft that made me admire the movie. A superstar was doing a film that boldly addressed the caste discrimination and the movie also got accepted critically and commercially. The same happiness is making me overlook the flaws in a movie like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. One of the big names in Bollywood right now, Ayushmann Khurrana is playing the role of a feminine gay character and the movie was treated as a hilarious entertainer. It’s been a while since I laughed this much seeing the situational comedy and the banter between characters. Kewalya knows that he will have to take the preachy presentation occasionally to convince the audience, but he smartly dipped that in humor.

Watched Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan a few hrs. ago. Overall it is a nicely made movie with a few overly top bollywoodised scenes that seemed unnecessary. Must say that the lead actors (Ayushmann & Jitu), Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta have delivered some brilliant performances and a special mention to the actor who plays his sister. A total crowd pleaser that takes a dig at our societies rather conservative thoughts on such serious issues. Was surprised to note that the theatre where the movie was screening was booked with a lot of families who had come to watch it! A Certified Hit & a must watch

The director has presented this movie in such an articulate and captivating manner that you would hardly find time to look for any drawbacks. Picture perfect!!! Ayushman as Kartik looks so good. His moves, every word coming out of him is so adorable that your mouth would go agape. Jitendra Kumar as Aman, did a commendable job in his debut film. As a gay couple, their chemistry works so well, and they are very convincing too. Gajraj and Neena Gupta, onscreen couple and parents of Aman create magic, similar to what we experienced in "Badhai Ho"... They are a darling duo. The rest of the ensemble is very supportive and gel well in the film's plot. It feels like a complete package. A very well made movie on gay relations narrated in a very convincing manner. And I guarantee that you would come out of the movie hall with a broad smile, reflecting on how much fun you had watching it.

Jeetu just rocked in the movie. The plot was mostly funny with a good message. Ayushman and Jeetu had a good chemistry. Fabulous storyline. Overall great acting and great cast but writing didn't play it's part or not be able to give justice to its plot. A rare movie whose greatest achievement is to infiltrate the mind of borderline homophobes without them noticing.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is an entertaining fare which makes an interesting comment on homophobia. The first half is sans complaints and has several hilarious and dramatic sequences. A few scenes are riot! The introduction is also done well. Post interval, the film slips and gets too filmy and unconvincing. The ending should have been the best part of the film but sadly here, it is sans any real fun. An interesting subplot, related to cauliflower, fails to get justice. Talking of performances, Ayushmann Khurrana tries too hard and fails to get his act right. I am shocked how someone like him went so overboard. Gajraj Rao is the 'hero'of this film as he has the maximum screen space, even more than Ayushmann and Jitendra! He's great as usual. Jitendra Kumar slips in his part effortlessly. Maanvi Gagroo and Pankhuri Awasthy are too funny. Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chadha and Sunita Rajwar give in their best but are letdown at places by the writing. All in all, film could have been a game-changer but ends up being a one-time watch!

Without being preachy at all this film sends out such a strong, important and a much needed message to the world. And it entertains throughout! Ayushman is a pitch perfect and finds an able match in Jeetu. The supporting cast is the best I have seen in only Ayushman film's. Must watch movie !!

Another great comedy movie is Hitesh Kewalya's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. In terms of comedy, this is a master stroke. It was quite a pleasure watching the movie. This picture is for everyone to see and enjoy with family. Ayushman Khurana and Jitendra Kumar have shown great talent in their performances. The music is not very good but the comic sequences are very good. The most enjoyable of all time is the funny moments dialog. My rating: Plot - 4/5 Soundtrack - 3/5 Characters - 4/5 Directions - 4/5

Shubhmangal jyada saavadhaan is an ENTERTAINING film with uneven narration. Ayushmann Khurana acted very well in his role. Every other actor gave great performances. Story is very simple and screenplay was okay with no twists but humour was very well managed throughout the film. However there is no proper thrill which makes this film a okay watch.

Khurrana has done several funny movies but this one in particular stands out the most for me. This was one of the few movies that made me laugh out loud. In a very uplifting manner, it delivers a very strong message with great subtlety. Kudos to Jitendra Kumar for his portrayal of Aman. He was not just grippingly risible, he will effortlessly keep you glued on because he’s totally relatable. This is one of those movies that I’m going to watch again and again and again.

It's a feel good family entertaining venture with lot of ethos moments. The efforts by Ayushmann and Jitendra is awesome on the gay characters. First part is better. Second part is predictable with lots of boring moments. Overall a great effort to touch a taboo subject where Metros like Delhi is filled thousands of gay couple in exile. For them sadly this one is a good entertainer and support fro Bollywood.
