Tanhaji: The unsung warrior starring Ajay Devgan, Kajol & Saif ali khan is based on life of Tanaji Malusare, a Maharashtrian marathi military leader.
Set used and Vfx is just awesome, if one was cheering on Bahubali's success then this movie is no less.
Ajay Atul & shankar-ehsaan-loy's music and background score is very nice & captivating.
It's a family entertainer.
Fun fact: This movie is also dubbed in Marathi language.
A must watch for this week.

A wonderful cinematic experience from bag of bollywood with eneregtic music and well directed movie. If you love watching historical fighting scene movies? This one is for you then. Good acting by Ajay Devgan and especially a negative role by saif was outstanding. In a nutshell the storyline is linear and you won't feel bored at any point of time. A good family watch movie.

Tanhaji was one of the best world warriors! If u can remember, there is/was a lesson in 4th STD history textbook - "Gad Aala Pan Siuha Gela(fort won but empire like a lion passed on)".The movie is based on that lesson. *Story*: Speechless about story. Ultimately it is a historical story. *Action*: 1)Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj acted well. 2)Ajay Devgan as Tanhaji Malusare played his role by heart. No one might not have fitted in place of Tanhaji other than Ajay. 3)Kajol as Savitri played a full maratha lady role. 4)Saif Ali Khan as Udaybhan,a royal-guard of Mughals suits to his role. 5)All other co actors have also greatly contributed to movie. *Connection to Present society and message of movie*: 1) We people are selfish and thinking only about our benefits. For Tanhaji,Swarjya and people happiness was more important.'we should also think and live for others'. 2)Kajol as Savitri Malusare says that Jab Shivaji ki Talwar Chalti hai to aurato ka ghungat aur brahmano ka janeu salamat rehta hai(When there is Shivaji Maharaj, women and brahman are safe.). This tells that"The soldiers are protecting us,that's why we can fearlessly wander , And lead a happy life."So respect soldiers" 3) Tanhaji and mawle climbed dangerous Kondhana fort without any support and today we get pain even after climbing a small hill. * 3D/2D* Any can be used to watch. But 3D experience is best. Salute to Tanhaji, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and all the Mawlas who died to create a better place for us.

Tanhaji might look one-dimensional at points as Raut’s version of the crucial Battle of Sinhagad is one hell of an ode to Tanaji’s bravery and refuses to go beyond certain thresholds. It’s also not so subtle in its symbol game as good and evil can be identified with their clothes’ colours. However, even if it’s over the top in creating larger than life heroes and villains, it’s very engaging. The delightfully planned battle scenes, coupled with inspired camera movements, are good enough to sustain your interest. At 134-minutes, Tanhaji offers a vision, in terms of technical finesse, that’s hard to resist.

Ajay Devgn as the valiant Maratha Subhedaar Tanhaji Malusare brings in the right kind of intensity and valour in his performance. There are moments where he simply lets his gaze do all the talking. The man finds his equal nemesis in Saif Ali Khan who delivers one of his most enjoyable performances in recent times. He lends a delicious wickedness to his portrayal of Udaybhan. His character in the film is kind of deranged but at the same time, his cunning ways also invoke laughs from time to time. Don't be surprised if Khan walks away with many awards this year! Kajol as Tanhaji's wife Savitribai has her own moments of strength. Watch out for her song sequence which plays during the end credits of the film. Sharad Kelkar who plays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj puts up a splendid performance. At one point in the film, Tanhaji Malusare tells his men, 'Pahila vaar lakh molacha'. Staying true to this words, director Om Raut delivers with a bang right from the first frame. When you like history as a subject or not, this page from Indian history makes up for a compelling watch. The arresting climatic showdown between Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan is an icing on the cake.

Tanhjai is an action-packed ride from start to finish, it is based on the historical Battle of Sinhagad. The cinematography visuals and the action sequences feel inspired by the likes of LOTR and 300 and are the highlight of the movie. The performances of both the leads are good and the movie is worth a watch, just feel that there were some pacing issues and they went over the top with nationalism and manliness of the leads.

Watch an epic battle where the stardoms and mannerisms of the actors take a back seat and the film and it’s characters rise much above the real life personas. Cruelty is not larger than life, patriotism is not enforced with hard hitting monologues, fluidity of narrative and characterisation makes the film a compelling watch. Ajay Devgn’s 100th is a landmark, no doubt. From the days of head gears, sneakers and bikes.. he has matured as one of the most bankable actors and he earns respect with his potrayal of Tanhaji again what he earned with his legendary Bhagat Singh’s character... Saif is back at his menacing best. His line in between the eyebrows and smile is enough to send chills. Langda tyagi has some serious competition. There is no point comparing with Ranveer’s khilji, Saif has presented us a breathtaking and stellar show and his combat scenes with his brutal laughters are going to linger on..mujhe Tanhaji chahiye.. Epic The film is shot in 3D which is soothing and undoubtedly better than many recent Hollywood flicks but it’s not the technology, it’s the script and fantastic razor sharp direction which keeps you engrossed and involved. The scene of piercing a wooden block by Tanhaji’s spear is unmissable and a cinematic experience of excellence. Ajay atul Brilliant use of acoustics and tunes absolutely gelling with the feel flavour and flow of the film. Om Raut excels as the director Dialogues enhance the scale and thrust of the film a thousand folds Action is real and doesn’t overpower the flow of the narration of this epic tale. When the two meet each other in the final combat, an action sequence follows which is choreographed with the deepest emotion and finest technique making it worth remembering.

I had very low expectations for this movie after watching the trailer but to my surprise it was a damn good movie with great visuals and story. It's an acting war between Saif and Ajay. Fights are well choreographed and 3D was like an added advantage of course at times it looks odd but overall it's a decent experience. Go for this movie as soon as possible.

Talking about acting it is perfect. Ajay devgan fits in the role of tanhaji and saif Ali khan's work is impressive. I suggest everyone must go and watch this movie - it is worth watching.

Even though film was predictable (maybe i was aware of the story before watching the film), it was an entertaining fare with Ajay Devgn enacting his part well against a menacing Saif Ali Khan, which was complimented by a well enacted supporting cast in the form of Kajol, Sharad Kelkar, Ajinkya Deo and many other actors. The few drawbacks of the films were the over the top action sequences & the funny dance sequences featuring Ajay Devgn.

At last the placement of music during the war sequences and the intensity by which these sequences are shot is just perfect.Performances of lead characters are definitely driving and engaging. The movie is engaging enough. I suggest, if you're a historical movie freak, you don't wanna miss this, doesn't matter what country/region you're from.

The movie is based on the life story of a 17th-century Maharashtrian Marathi military leader Tanaji.Director Om Raut highlights Tanhaji's attempt to occupy the castle of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the film very efficiently. The battle of Tanhaji with Aurangzeb's vigilant guard Udayavan Singh Rathore occupied the fort, and the scene struck the audience. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior starred in the movie Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol and many more.In this movie, Ajay is well regarded as a Maratha warrior and he has a good acting role.He fought the Battle of Sinhagad against Udaybhan Singh Rathod, played by Saif Ali Khan. The background music is pretty good in this movie and the cinematography is also intelligent. In my opinion, the movie should be watched as soon as possible with everyone in the family. Mind blowing Movie and tale! Great job in covering story of an unsung hero-Tanhaji, from 17th century. This movie raises the bar of 3D and VFX based cinematography in Bollywood . Clubbed with A-class direction, action sequences , story line and acting skills . Personally I feel Ranveer singh would have done a better role than Saif Ali Khan for the role of UdayBhan .

Director om raut redeem his historical Tanhaji the unsung warrior to a large extent with a smashing climax involving a dual between the titular character (Devgan) and his rajput nemesis uday bhan characterized by Saif ail Khan. The real meat of Tanhaji the unsung warrior is the climatic strike and ensuing battle. The vfx and the special effects aid the scale of the film and the vision of the director. The real deal is the background score which is consistently as rousing as the climax of the film.

Watched Tanhaji yesterday late night. Ajay devgn as Tanhaji is powerful & he delivers a brilliant performance. Saif alikhan top nottch performance once again he proved that whenever he comes on the screen as a villain, he will set it on fire. And it is a pleasant experience to watch sharada kelker as chatrapati shivaji. He acted small but very strong. The way he looks, the way he walks, the way he stands, he seems to be shivaji maharaj in the true sense. The man he was amazing. Given less rating because of Aurangabad and need for Swaraj not explained well. But still the movie is awesome..I recommend everyone to watch this film.

In the trailer, the makers introduce the Battle of Sinhagarh, which was fought on February 4, 1670, as the 'surgical strike' that shook the Mughal empire. The extremely talented Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj appears to have been wasted in the role. He doesn't have much meat to his character.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is biopic of Tanaji Malusare, right hand of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and a great Maratha warrior. In 1665, Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attacked and captured the strategically important Kondhana Fort. To make it a control centre of Southern India, Aurangzeb sends his most trusted commander Uday Bhan Rathod as its caretaker. When Tanhaji came to know about this, he steps up and promise Shivaji Maharaj that once again Maratha flag will hoist in Kondhana. On February 4, 1670, Tanhaji with around 300 soldiers successfully captured the fort. This is director Om Raut's debut Bollywood film and he has done a fabulous job. Storyline is seamlessly developed. The dialogues exhibits great intensity of patriotism. The music and background score support the plot and contributes to the atmosphere of war. Bollywood is changing and now the glorious history of our unsung brave heroes is getting a long waited recognition. Tanhaji keeps you invested for every single second in the movie. Movie heavily depends on the CGI and the war sequences are a visual treat. It's inspiring and glorious. Its cinematography is striking and impressive. Songs aren't very great but suits with the plot. Ajay Devgn's charismatic performance gives a satisfaction every time he's on the screen. His dialogue delivery will ignite the flame of patriotism is your heart. On the other side Saif Ali Khan has given a superior and breathtaking performance. He looks evil. He's ruthless and his madness don't have limits. Kajol in a little screen time given wins viewers hearts. Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has also played his role very well. Overall Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is compelling and amusing movie. It's a powerful action-packed entertainer.

This sort of movies should be made which fills you pride and valour watching our rich history. Acting by ajay and saif is above average. This movie is simply eye opening and a masterpiece at the same time. It gives you goosebumps when you see maratha warriors fighting tooth and nail for swaraj. This story of how shivaji's most loyal warrior fought with mughal emperor aurangjeb to get pune fort reminded us how our history books been unfair with our soldiers. When it comes to action - ajay devgan is best at it. Saif and ajay come together after omkara. This duo creates magic. The confrontational dialouge delivery of ajay is awesome. The uncanny laugh of saif made us realise how cruel aurangjeb was. Kajol is as usual awesome. Its a must watch movie.

It is 1664, the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb has set Delhi as his capital and he wants to make the all important Kondhana fort ( Pune ) as his Deccan capital Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who has given a tough fight to Aurangzeb, but right now he has already given this fort to him by signing a treaty 4 years later, Shivaji wants to capture this fort back. Specially when he gets the news that Aurangzeb has sent Udaybhan Rathod to safeguard Kondhana fort Now his friend and his best warrior Tanhaji Malusare is the best guy for this job. Will he capture it back or will Udaybhan prove to be too strong for Tanhaji......watch this spectacularly made movie in all it's grandeur and awesome 3D effects ( probably the best 3D effects film of Bollywood till date ) to know the climax Ajay Devgn......last year played comedy in Total Dhamaal and an emotional role in De De Pyar De. Here he is back doing what he is the best at.....action! His expressions, his body language, his dialogue delivery in confrontational scenes.....are brilliant! This also happens to be 100th film of his career and also produced by him, great effort to pull out this mammoth project successfully Saif Ali Khan......if you want to see the real actor Saif, see his Omkara and this one.....excellent A beast of a cruel guy here He doesn't think twice to cut off elephant's trunk He kills a high flying eagle with his sphere He eats crocodile's meat Kills humans mercilessly Chops the enemy soldiers with his long sword like vegetables, using the bottom part of the sword also simultaneously with great effect That cunning laughter...what awesome performance! The director Om Raut......suddenly you enter the mainstream commercial cinema and come up with this marvellous work of art....aise kaise bhai....too good! The narrative part is explained simply, which makes it easier for the viewers The dialogues are simple but effective The cinematography, the background music will get you excited with the movie I am sure on 3 scenes in particular Ajay Devgn's entry Saif's entry And first confrontation between the 2, the single screen cinema audiences must be full of whistles and cheering The first half is nice, immediately after intermission, for sometime the second half starts a bit dull.....but may be the director planned it that way.....going all out in the exhilarating last sequence Maratha soldiers entering the high rise Kondhana fort Hard hitting sword fights Arrows blowing The technique used for climbing the vertical wall with bamboo sticks was innovative Special attention given for the artwork done for the Maratha forts and different for the Mughal palace Overall i loved the film!

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior stars Ajay Devgn as the valorous hero of the film’s title, Chhatrapati Shivaji’s trusted lieutenant Subedar Tanhaji Malasure, who, according to legend, never backed away from a fight. Yet it’s Saif Ali Khan, playing the film’s villain, who appears to be having more fun. Saif plays Udaybhan, Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s Rajput general, who sports black robes, a thick beard, a deceptive smile, and an unending appetite for cruelty. Let’s just say he’s cut from the same cloth as Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji. The film, directed by Om Raut, is set in the year 1670, and focuses on the Battle of Sinhagad between the Marathas and the Mughals. History has it that Tanhaji abandoned his son’s wedding to defend the Kondhana Fort near Pune from Udaybhan and his troops.

Finally, a movie that tells the true story of Chhatrapati Shivaji and his crazy brave Maratha warriors, in the way it should be told. The special effects, background score, and dialogues are simply out of this world. There is not one single second when you will get distracted or feel like checking your phone or talking to your buddies. The movie simply grabs your attention from the first reel till the end of the credits. There is so much passion in everything from the acting to the music to the screenplay to narration to editing that you'll end up at least wanting to cry if not jump into the fight and help win Kondhana fort. Clear national award winning direction and Oscar nomination worthy action. Acting is superlative. Ajay Devgan is convincing as the insanely brave and intelligent warrior while Saif makes you hate him from the bottom of your heart for his cruelty. Kajol does very well in her limited screen time. Sharad Kelkar who plays Chhatrapati Shivaji, plays the role perfectly. His eyes accurately depict his pain while waiting to see victory of Kondhana aka Sinhagad fort. Every scene and dialogue from the get go flows seamlessly into the next right till the end. Simply put, A MUST WATCH, NOT ONCE, BUT MANY TIMES OVER! P.S.: If you are in India, do watch in 3D - you will not regret it!!
