Dua lipa made big promises by dropping Don't Start Now as the first single off her forthcoming album Future Nostalgia. The flawless pop song was a sign that Lipa was confidently taking on the challenge of the second album. It's time for single number two and she's smashed it out of the park with physical. Physical is a neon-lit tune that sits somewhere between disco and 80s electro pop. Its full of eery synths and hearty beats that actually make you feel like you want to grab someone and run to the dance floor. The whole thing sweets with lust from Lipa's slinky vocal in the verses to the way she switches up the melody in the second part of the chorus.

Plenty of current pop stars mine the chintzy sounds of the 80's for inspiration, but none have concentrated the motif quite like dua lipa. The title of the UK singers second LP, future nostalgia, underlines her commitment, standout lead single ' don't start now ' wears flashy synths and a disco bass line as chunky as the era's geometric jewelry.

Lipa co-wrote 'Phyiscal' with Sarah Hudson,Jason Evigan and Clarence Coffee Jr.while the song was produced by Evigan and KOZ.While 'Don't Start Now' had a clear disco vibe going on, 'Physical' seems rooted in the slick synth pop of the eighties. The production of this tune is an easy A+.

I like this song so much that I dont know if I am reviewing this correctly! Here I go... Dua Lipa is this artist.. where you can fun. The message is always different but it works with her silly-ish but powerful execution. Having this blend of old pop and the newer pop works well. As of this song from Future Nostalgia, she puts on the old blend of that odd funk I heard a few times in the intro. And that funky pop beat in the verses. Then a really fun and powerful chorus. The music video honestly got me confused, but I still loved it because it waa colorful and had that anime part. Dua Lipa shows through her Future Nostalgia songs is that pop music can have any meaning and doesnt need to have that too serious tone in order to be enjoyable. You choose the aesthetic you want. The one that feels personal to the artist. The one that is the artists' own style. Sure, you can change your aesthetic but as long you have the neutral but powerful point of view, you can PULL IT OFF! (Or that you have a silly pov as long its powerful or just have a harsh one and have some powerful thought. But to me, Lipa did the positibe neutral one.) Dua Lipa did it, so can many pop artists. That's what I hope for 2020. That pop has different aesthetics towards each other and it shows something powerful to the topic. I want this in many other popular pop artists. With Dua Lipa pulling this off, I have hope. This is spectacular! I love this!
