Abish posted a review for Wrath of Man (2021) in Movies
Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man seems like a generic action thriller at first glance, but it is elevated by his slick direction, strong performances from the cast and the solid writing. What I like about this movie so much are the characters. None of them are outright heroic, not even Patrick Hill, the protagonist. In fact, he could be considered a villain protagonist. He has a dark past involved with criminal activity and he is ruthless. However, he does have a moral code and sympathetic qualities. When he is dealing with his fractured family, I could not help but feel sorry for him despite his stoicness. That being said, he is definitely not a role model. His partner seemed like a wimp at first, but he grew on me in the third act. The villains in the film are a mixed bag, but pretty good overall. Some of the robbers are about as morally grey and sympathetic as Hill, but a couple of them are pretty despicable and I wanted to see them get their just desserts. Some of the robbers get good development and personalities, others are not so lucky. I think the movie could have done a little better with a few of them, but the robbers make for compelling antagonists overall. The characters make the film so much more intense, especially considering how morally grey everyone is here. I actually was having a hard time who was going to come out on top in the story.

Abish posted a review for Mortal Kombat (2021) in Movies
Great movie, definitely lived up to its reputation. The action, fight scenes and story line was awesome. I don't think Cole is going to be a big character in the franchise, so I think the sequel should have less attention on Cole and focus on what the audience wants and that's their mortal kombat characters come to life on the big screen. Otherwise the movie was great and I enjoyed every second of it. The Tournament is about to begin. Well done to all the people who made this movie and well done to all the actors for their brilliance on the big screen.

Abish posted a review for Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) in Movies
Godzilla vs. Kong is a jaw-dropping spectacle of lizards and monkeys tossing each other through skyscrapers and bonking each other with giant axes, and I love it for that. It’s big, silly action-packed fun brought to life with the best CGI work a MonsterVerse film has seen yet, with a couple of exciting twists and decent world-building. I loved the fact that the story was not lengthy and boring. Overall it's a great movie to watch especially in the Theatres.

Abish posted a review for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in Movies
Disney is on their best again letting us experience an emotional rollercoaster that solidified that story-driven narrative. It made a good audience impact by clearly portraying that we should set our differences aside, we should help each other, and shoulder our burdens together, and not just be content to put them aside. I really liked the part when Sisu the dragon motivated Raya and said "It may feel impossible, but sometimes you just have to take the first step, even before you're ready". Great characters amplified by the story and plot. I've seen films with similar themes or storylines about unification, peace, or "bringing the world together", but this film is "CREATIVELY UNIQUE".

Abish posted a review for Coolie No. 1 (2020) in Movies
This story was best suited for the 90's and should have been left alone. Watching this movie automatically put me in the comparison mode with the original where Govinda, Karisma and all the other supporting cast were effortless and supreme in their acting skills. In this movie, all the seasoned and veterans have lowered their skills and just lost the plot. The leading cast are pure disappointment. The movie is far from entertaining and can aptly be called pure torture. Watch it if you have no expectations and plenty of time to kill.
