In this movie the movie hall was divided when it came to the reviews of the film. While some thought this was Varun at his best, few complained about it being a medical documentary. For me, the movie has its heart in the right place with a perfect emotional quotient. Kudos to the team for not going overboard with melodramatic scenes. Maybe the movie is not for everybody. But it is a Varun Dhawan- Shoojit Sircar collaboration you can't afford to miss.
Unlike the case with Shoojit and Juhi’s previous collaborations Vicky Donor and Piku, the mood in October is decidedly somber; there’s very little to laugh about. Be warned the overwhelming sadness will take a piece out of you. If you allow it though it has the power to change the way you look at love and life.I’m going with three out of five.
October is indeed the sort of film that demands patience, but does not fail to reward it in ample measure. It is difficult to miss its uplifting soul. Impressively understated in its genteel exploration of loss and longing, it is exquisitely crafted.October gets four stars, not five, because the film, like life, isn't perfect. But, like life again, it is achingly beautiful when at its best. Anything less would be too little for this singularly wondrous film.
OCTOBER is an offbeat and a sensitive film which rests on a wafer thin plot and suffers from a slow pace. The movie is sure to win critical acclaim for Varun Dhawan’s outstanding performance but has hardly anything for the masses. At the box office, the movie will appeal to a niche section of the multiplex going audience.
I hardly watch any movies in theaters but this one had something different to offer from others as I saw it's trailer. I was much curious to know about the story of the film as one may scratch some brains after listening it's songs and watching the promo that this movie is all about love, attachments and sufferings. However, ‘October’ was much more than that. I entered the cinema hall before the arrival of most of the audience. Sat comfortably on my seat just waiting for the movie to start. The movie begins with a scene of a metro slowly travelling from an over bridge. ‘Dan’ (Varun Dhavan) is a hotel management trainee who has to complete his internship in a hotel so that he qualifies for his bachelors. He is a careless, lethargic and not so inspired towards work guy, who doesn't have much priorities in life. ‘Shiuli’ (Banit Sandhu) is a management trainee as well. She is more calm, composed and knows how to do her job well. They both share a casual relationship in the movie where some hie, hello types of conversations occur between them. But, here comes the twist. ‘Shiuli’ falls from the third floor while enjoying a party with her colleagues but fortunately survives somehow. After her hospitalization, ‘Dan’, her not so close friend comes everyday to see her. The reason behind his concern for her were those final words spoken by ‘Shiuli’ for ‘Dan’ about his absence from the hotel. “Where is Dan.” The movie portraits a real life human emotions where a person close to you suffers the same. In such instances, most of the people leave your support. But for ‘Dan’, it wasn't the case. He cares for her irrespective of what people say to him. He even compromises his job, family and friends for her. The best thing I like in the movie is ‘Dan’s empathetic attitude towards a girl harldy much known to him. Being called as an immature person, he possesses something in him which others lack completely, ‘Empathy’. While ‘Shiuli’ is bedridden and unconscious, she still knows ‘Dan’s presence around her. She knows how he comes regularly to meet her. How he sleeps on the hospital floor. How he runs constantly for her medical aid. How he supports her mother. This is the real beauty of the movie where a hardly known friend cares for her and an unconscious, bedridden person still knows his presence around her. This touched me. Finally ‘Dan’ realises what life is. He works hard to make a living. He becomes responsible in life. After the movie got over, my eyes got numb. I was just sitting on my seat while seeing people leaving the cinema hall. Some of them were laughing for the heroine being bedridden for the whole movie. But for me, this movie touched my heart. Emotions came out from within as the fear of separation from a close one caught me in its claws. This movie portraits how fragile a life is. Each moment should be cherished as it may be your last
October is a different challenge for varun Dhawan who is usually known for his comedy numbers. The movie directed by shoojit sircar usually is found to be connected with realistic terms. this time love is the theme of the movie. without introducing any variants that are usually found in romantic movies specially directed by karAn joharis not found at all in this movie. with simple and casual terms the film has tried to project the real sense and definition of love. Over all both the actors male and female have done spectacular jobs...
October is a beautiful movie about human emotions, well acted and well written. It's like the fragrance of the flower "Shiuli" which lingers in your mind and soul even after leaving the theatre hall. Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi were successfull in bringing out a poetic masterpiece. It showed that even without songs and melodrama, a movie can show what love is. Everyone should go with his/her family and enjoy the movie. once again i would like to say it is must watch movie.
