Raid is based on the true story of one of the most high profile raids the country has ever known. Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn), an upright and no-nonsense Income Tax officer has already been transferred 49 times in the past seven years owing to his idealistic and courageous disposition to uncover tax frauds, hitting hard the pockets of many a big shot. When Patnaik is assigned the case of Tauji, a highly influential and feared man in Uttar Pradesh, little does he know that his unerring determination to bring Tauji to justice would culminate in the longest and most challenging raid of his career as also the history of the Income Tax Department of India. Would Amay succeed in the face of an increasingly stubborn and belligerent Tauji forms the crux of the story.

Raid had potential, but it comes off overlong and tepid. And where is the city of Lucknow? What we get is same-old flashes of historic buildings in all their crumbling glory, as a backdrop to drab songs, but no sign of the vibrant, living culture of the place this film is supposedly set in. But there were two disparate movies being played out here in Raid. On one hand, Raj Kumar Gupta was intent on resurrecting the painstaking and arduous raid to the last shady detail, and on the other he was intent on showcasing the syrupy relationship between a deadpan Devgn and his lovely wife who feared for her husband’s safety. It wasn’t a holy union and the genre-blending effort to unite two subplots wasn’t seamless. Watch this only if you want to cough up your hard-earned white money for a messed up crime drama that lacks tooth.

A good film is it’s own reward. Raj Kumar Gupta has made an entertaining and impressive film with Raid. Ritesh Shah has written an intelligent script and screenplay one that has interesting characters and dialogue too. Raid is an engrossing film, its moulded in the commercial film format. There are songs, there are twists, there’s an abundance of thrills and there’s even an action sequence.

This Tseries thriller venture directed by Raj Kumar Gupta is based on the true incident of income tax raid conducted by Indian revenue department office amay pattnaik in 1980 which created a political sensation in national level at that time . The raid is conducted on uttar Pradesh mp rameswar Singh which played by sourav shukla. This movie is quiet awesome and inspiring. It shows the honesty of an officer towards his nation. The story of the movie is very strong content. The best thing about that the indication in trailer of the movie is completely different from the movie content. If you watch the trailer before watching the movie then you will surely enjoy this gripping thriller. The twist after interval in the movie is a breathe holding scene. The character of amay is played by Ajay devgan very well and his flawless acting and way of delivery of dialogue makes this character more precious. Sourav shukla is the another center of attraction in the movie and he played his role very well. His way of acting was very impressive as usual. Overall the movie was a paisabasool movie and worth watching one time movie . The music of the movie us very good , but the screenplay need to be improved. But everyone should watch this movie

In this Ram v/s Ravan Raid the Supporting cast( mostly Devgun’s IT team and Shukla’s huge joint family) do get sidelined yet some make their presence felt. Amit Sial as the IT officer who undergoes a transformation during the raid acts well. Saanand Verma, Amit Bimrot, Devas Dixit, Sheeba Chadda, Akshay Verma & Gayathri Iyer are passable. It is 86 year old Pushpa Singh who makes her presence felt as Shukla’s Mom whose sharp sarcastic dialogues and inimitable energy makes the leading lady Ileana Dcruz fade in comparison. Poor Dcruz is nothing more than a decorative show piece in this film. The director manages to capture the stereotypical mentality of upper class families in India as depicted during the raid where the women are concerned about their jewellery being seized and the children are overjoyed that they can bunk school during this emergency in the family.

This gripping thriller is inspired by the true events of income tax raids conducted by the Indian revenue service in the 1980’s which created a sensation in the political and public scenario at that time. Set in 1981 in Uttar Pradesh, an earnestly honest IT officer Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgun) gets leads of black money being stocked at the residence of an influential minister Rameshwar Singh aka Tauji (Saurabh Shukla), he raids the big palatial mansion along with his team and fights all odds including political, violent and even emotional barriers in order to extract the ‘hidden treasure’. Ajay Devgun is sincere in his act and looks like he’s carrying forward his Singham & Gangaajal avatar. He looks mature and fits the part convincingly and thankfully does not go over the top. Saurabh Shukla complements Devgun’s Ram with his fantastic portrayal of the Kalyug Ka Ravan. His archetypal killer look and menacing dialogues delivery lends able support in building his villainous image. Full credit to the director for developing these two primary characters very well specially Shukla’s as Devgun’s has some drawbacks. The director manages to capture the stereotypical mentality of upper class families in India as depicted during the raid where the women are concerned about their jewellery being seized and the children are overjoyed that they can bunk school during this emergency in the family. Another irritating factor is the repeated stress on giving Devgun an earnest and honest image by portraying him as a true patriot who is an Atheist but worships “Bharat Mata”, who smokes throughout the movie even during the raid but doesn’t get detered by the powerful influence of the minister whose house he’s raiding. Agreed that realistically there may have been an IT officer so righteous and the movie is set in 1981 but it’s hard to digest someone being deliberately infused with such a squeaky clean image in a movie releasing in today’s times. So Devgun as the torch bearer of Orthodox principles is shown strong enough to reject Shukla’s bribes, the violent uproar of Shukla’s brothers and blind followers and even the sexual advances by Shukla’s daughter in law(Sulagna Panigrahi trying hard to look seductive). The director Raj Kumar Gupta has done a good job by trimming the running time and focusing on the main plot which makes the film gripping and engaging. The only distractions are the unnecessary songs ( though well composed) as this could’ve easily been a songless thriller. It’s unfortunate that the director is a victim of Bollywood mandate by adding unnecessary romance & songs. Definitely a one- time watch for viewers looking out for something different from the regular Bollywood fare.

So, the story is about a Raid happened in 1981, so as usual a true story. Now, the question is how much of it is true? well, if you ask about it, the film doesn't seems true, but it actually happened in year 1981 and now we don't see any such officers or may be media doesn't show. The one best thing about the film is the way Ajay devgan inspired me to be honest just like Rajkumar rao in Newton. What can i say about saurav shukla. He is just amazing. The film helps you to go into the journey of thriller. So you shouldn't miss it. And if you are wishing something lilke Drishyam. Gangajal. It's not thrilling like that. My rating (6.5/10)

was sitting idle on Sunday when my friend proposed me to watch this one. Was not expecting much from movie but as movie unfolded you keep on getting engrossed with the movie. The lead actor (Ajay) performance is rock solid...that poker face expression and dialogue delivery suits best to him..Actress role was minimal and does not affect story in anyway. salute to the director for bringing the solid drama which highlights how some of our civil servants work hard without varying for them.. rating 4/5 for story 4/5 for acting 2/5 for disruption due to songs

Raid is movie that depicts the corruption incapsulated in Indian political history. It doesen't Matter what era it is. Raid is intense and hold the audience till end. Saurabh Shukla in negative role did the justice with character in each frame of movie. On the other hand Ajay Devgan holds his intense look and confidence. both they made the movie look awesome on silver screen. based on a true story movie has many things to fabricate and fold it as per todays audience n genre. it could be little better if we talk about thrills & Mysteries. This Movies is surely a must watch. but do not carry the same expectation as you jad with Ajay Devgan's Drishyam. You Might be little disappointed...

Raid is another Bollywood movie that has shown the level of corruption levied by the so called politicians of our country. The executive and beureocracy tussle has also been highlighted. In this movie Ajay Devgan has played the role of an Income tax officer who is very much honest to his duty and a prior follower of his proffesional ethics and integrity. The movie is based on the real incident that occurred during 1980s at Lucknow. The longest raid against the possession of amass wealth by the political power holders has been highly revealed in this movie. the role of the politician is being played by Saurav shukla who happens to be the most powerful man in the city. There is a hidden philosophy which the movie has tried to cast... that is The beaurocracts on being sincere and following the duty firmly which he owe can do much to sweep and eradicate the chronic corruption from our country. over all the movie is good, and the role of the protagonists has made this movie more beautiful to watch

Raid is a movie depicting a story of an honest Income Tax officer taking on a corrupt politician. It is publicised as being based on real events. Ajay Devgn as IT officer has proved once again why he is one of the best in business. But the real eye gazer of the film is Saurabh Shukla as Tauji. He unleashes his power drunken almost godly behavior which is apt for the film. The story line is simple yet the audience are stitched to the seats thanks to good narration and acting. The female lead Ileana sadly has very less screen time and is seen only as a stress buster for her male counterpart. Overall must watch film. 4 stars

Raid is a movie based on the Indian Income Tax department's biggest and longest raid till date. It stars Ajay devgan. Ajay devgan has played his character so well that his past achievements start looking nothing in front of this. More than that, i think saurabh shukla played the negative role quite well as well. I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Even as an enraged crowd of armed men hound a hall he has locked himself in, Ajay Devgn is busy gazing at his wife’s photo in his wallet and a romantic number plays in the background. Confused moments like this put a damper on the otherwise decent thriller that Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid is. Based on the real life story of an Income Tax officer, Raid is about the longest-running Income Tax raid in India’s history. IT officials raided the house of a businessman, and Congress MLA, Sardar Inder Singh in Kanpur on July 16, 1981 and recovered an unprecedented amount of undeclared assets in cash and gold. the movie is good nt block buster u can watch it for one time

Raid would score well on novelty. It is indeed quite original to fashion a two hour-long film on the supposedly longest ever income tax raid, which, from what I hear from my retired IT officer uncle, is anyhow a boring and back-breaking exercise. Cinematically it offers many challenges: confined, single space, defined set of people and not much movement and action. Despite these odds, director Raj Kumar Gupta and his writer Ritesh Shah do manage to hold the audience interest but only intermittently so. The tale of an honest officer Amay Patnaik, (Ajay Devgn) leading an IT team to unearth the black money stashed away in the “White House” of the evil, corrupt politician Tauji (Saurabh Shukla), Raid could have been much more tight, taut and thrilling than it turns out to be.

Ajay Devgan plays Amay Patnaik with characteristic intensity and resolve. He is a public servant who is gullible .His ideas are taller than his fame and integrity is infallible. Saurabh Shukla(Taiji) is the chief antagonist. He has great political power. He throws him challenge that the Income tax officer would not find a single rupee in his house but Ajay Devgan outsmarts him and finds the money It is a must watch movie

The film starts off without much beating around the bush introducing the tough and ethical police officers who shies away from taking bribes, is dutiful and prefers to indulge in pleasures which he can afford. Amay is tipped off a corrupt politician who allegedly owns an expansive amount of black money. Without further ado, the raid kicks off real soon and then continues…. continues for the rest of the film. Amidst this, there is romance, suspense, songs and of course action! The movie is beaureacratic and must watch

Inspired by "true stories" surrounding an early 1980s tax raid on a powerful Uttar Pradesh political goon, the film has contemporary resonance because the broad themes that it touches upon are undeniably as relevant today as they were four decades ago. The nation and its people may, on the surface, seem to have moved on, but, at levels that matter, the rot has only worsened in alarmingly dangerous ways.

Raid!!... Well... how do I start... I watched the film with my friends and it was definitely worth it. Ajay Devgn never cease to amaze you without doubt but this time even Saurabh Shukla killed!!! The film did a great job portraying something so big that actually happened in real life and not making it seem like a fictional event. All the good parts were mostly those little suspenses that "where would the money be hidden now?" and "I never thought it would be hidden there?"(My expressions were tge same as Saurabh Shukla's when Ajay Devgn was removing money from all these little corners of the house) and also the fact that they never told you till the end who was helping ajay devgn to find the black money was brilliant idea!!#(Spoiler Alert!!)# No one would have thought that the helper would be the girl herself who tried to seduce ajay devgn into leaving the house. This was in my opinion a PERFECT bollywood movie. In fact it was far too perfect showing that nothing actually happened to ajay devgn till the end and there was always a way through which ajay devgn would get out of trouble.. which i think many viewers didnt like about the film... but I love those kind of films where the protagonist uses his brains in such a way that no one from the audience would actually be able to guess the outcome!! Overall, It was Fantastic!!

What’s Good: The Tom & Jerry play between Ajay Devgn & Saurabh Shukla, it makes you laugh throughout, very smartly written dialogues. What’s Bad: The plot gets unconvincing at places, few unnecessary songs & forced romantic angle between Ajay & Ileana. Loo Break: If you take it, you’ll either miss a good comic scene or a quirky dialogue. Take it on your own risk Watch or Not?: Watch this for some pure popcorn munching fun & some brilliant performances.

Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn), a super-honest Income Tax officer, conducts a raid on the corrupt and connected Rameshwar Singh (Saurabh Shukla). But it seems as if Patnaik has signed his own death warrant. film is based on material sourced from several true stories of IT raids conducted in Uttar Pradesh in the early ’80s. Ironically, Rameshwar’s residence ‘White House’, on the outskirts of Lucknow, is home to 420 crore of black money and Patnaik — a man with a steely reserve and squeaky clean reputation — who has received a tip-off, is determined to find the missing wealth. If you are idealistic, you can easily fall for Patnaik. He is the kind of hero who is badly needed to unleash a battle on corruption that our country is synonymous with. And you stay invested in him because it is our Utopian belief that with more Patnaiks, the system will be washed clean. Of course, Rameshwar has connections in high places, including the Prime Minister, no less. And he tries his level best to insult and intimidate Patnaik through strong-arm tactics. Raj Kumar Gupta (Aamir, No One Killed Jessica, Ghanchakkar) returns to the big screen after a gap of five years. Mercifully, the hiatus hasn’t made him rusty. He manages to go through this taut drama with the requisite speed, but with very few real surprises. Also, he doesn’t inspire great performances. The supporting cast is a complete let down with most actors looking like they swallowed castor oil but are still constipated. With the exception of Ajay, there is not one noteworthy act. Ileana looks gorgeous in her sari and bindi avatar, but she overdoes her cuteness quotient. Instead of reacting like she is married to an IT officer, she behaves like she is married to a BSF jawan. One knows that the perils of both the jobs, but an actor still needs a certain subtlety to show the difference between a uniformed man facing a bullet and the plainclothesman biting the bullet. Ritesh Shah’s dialogues provide some whistle-worthy lines and the dialogue lauding valour and values makes your chest puff up in pride. You are absolutely one with the hero in most situations and want him to win at any cost, especially because the likes of an absconding Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi make you feel really angry and cheated. The romantic track between Ajay and Ileana is too orchestrated with the stock montages of them doing the usual shaving foam routine and some more blah stuff. But they luck out with the melodious tracks — Sanu Ek Pal Chain and Nit Khair Manga — composed by Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, both of which have a haunting quality.
