American Mickey Pearson presides over a huge marijuana business, growing weed under the estate of Britain's wealthiest families. Yet when he considers selling up to spend more time with his wife Ros, a possible investor, a Chinese gangster, a tabloid editor and a private eye all begin to circle Mickey's empire. There's lot of fun to be had in this fictionalized account. What it lacks in freshness and depth, The gentleman generally makes up for in cartoon-y bluster and fun details. Welcome home Mr. Ritchie.
The Gentleman is Guy Ritchie back in his manor. After the big budget misfire of King Arthur:Legend of the sword and the big budget success of Aladdin, Ritchie's 11 feature return's to his roots: the London based crime milieu of Lock, Stock and Two Smocking Barrels, Snatch and RocknRolla. It's a movie in which pleasingly self enchanted actors play comically self important characters pursuing elaborately self serving schemes.

From the very first scene 'The Gentlemen'grabs your interest and doesn't let go. The story is about a powerful drug lord in London Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) is looking to sell his highly profitable Marijuana business. But before he strikes the deal, he has to deal with a sly blackmailer, dangerous business rivals and a prying tabloid editor. Everyone wants a piece of him. High Grant who is a personal favorite for me does well in his short role and the rest of the cast fit the gangsta vibe perfectly. The screenplay is elite and funny and keeps you engaged throughout the movie. Very entertaining movie with a great cast, fascinating characters and a good story line.

This movie delivers from the opening scene. Every character has character and there are no loose ends in the plot. Dialogue is on point, story is interesting, costumes are mint, and Matthew delivers a hell of a performance with everyone else. Music is great and the cinematography takes liberties that only a movie can and best of all, a character sets the stage for the stylization. Guy Ritchie just created another instant classic. Go see it in theatres it’s worth it.

The casting in this is FLAWLESS and had no boring moments even IF a line OR two of dialogue was predictable script writing. I was hanging Movie's every scene having me guessing along the way right up to the last scene of what was going to happen. This is a perfect film for fans of the actors of both Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Grant. It perfection intensified by it's ending that PERFECTLY leads it open for a squeal OR franchise.

This is Guy Ritchie at his best. Like his classic Brit Gangster films ( Lock,Stock and Twov Smoking Barrells, Snatch and Rock n Rolla ) the film is an acting tour de force by everyone because the script is brilliant. The story is clever, fun and action packed. The language is rich, entertaining and touched with genius. This is also a British writer/director achieving universal appeal by being British. When Ritchie did American ( Man From Uncle, Swept Away ) he failed. Like The Beatles, Shakepeare and Tony Hancock Guy Ritchie is brilliant at being true to himself.

I must have to say this is one of the best films I have seen. I wasn’t expecting much and hadn’t even read the plot but only a couple of minutes in, I was hooked. It is witty, clever, surprising and there are laugh out loud moments. I implore you to see this film even if it isn’t your usual genre. It is firmly In place in my top five movies ever watched now.

This movie sneaks up on you like a fox watching some chipmunks and gives chase to another molehole that can't wait to break open to an eagles nest! It is captivating once you get over the crude word I'm sure the English think is a slam, but being a woman, it isn't that funny. The laughs really start coming often about 2/3 into it; and it from there it is letting you know there is more there than you thought possible. All in all, I think it's one of Richie's best. Hugh Grant does a great job and you can never tell who's side he's on. So many questions and the answers are in another ballpark! Go see for yourself when you want a lift.

Guy Ritchie has taken it back to his award winning, blockbuster recipe. Walking out of the cinema I said to my wife that, I remember when people used to ask me who my favourite director was and without flinching I would say Guy Richie, then over time, with embarrassing releases like King Arthur and Robin Hood, I started finding myself deflecting the question. After this film, I think I can proudly say his name. Guy's Back Baby! I don't think I can fault it. The dialogue, the acting, the cast, the action and gritty British humour which is its best. This movie was pure entertainment - just reminded me why Dark Comedies are my favourite Genre.

Fun, engaging, high stakes - Guy Richie at his best. If you loved Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels you will most definitely enjoy The Gentlemen. Not only does the writing keep you on your toes with Guy Ritchie's signature fast pace and wit - the soundtrack will help immerse you in his world even further. Matthew McConaughey is on his game, Hugh Grant is superb, I haven't seen him this good in a long long time, Charlie Hunnam continues to impress. When you think of a strong female backing up her man think no further than Michelle Dockery, she kills it in this role as Rosalind 'Roz' Pearson.

To summarise: Brilliant casting, great script, really good dialogue and fab locations. With an exciting story line this is Guy Ritchie and his team back at their best. The story line ducks and dives just like the characters do. A snappy fast past pace keeps you on your toes. Not a single dull or fidgety moment. Special mention to Hugh Grant who is absolutely brilliant, such a change from his usual type casting as the foppish dandy. Also a big congratulations to the stylist on the excellent job done on the wardrobe of the cast. This film is funny, modern and really well filmed and edited. The first five mins are slightly confusing so listen carefully and don’t worry all becomes very clear, very quickly. Great soundtrack too. Faultless.

The Gentlemen is a typical Guy Ritchie comedy entertainer. Fascinating oddball characters, crisp action sequences, straight-faced humour, and at the centre of it all, the drug mafia.More specifically, one drug boss, Mickey Pearson (McConaughey), who’s looking to get out of the business. Though he calls himself the “king of the jungle”, he wants to strike a deal for his highly profitable marijuana business. But there are dangerous business rivals, blackmailers and even a tabloid. The support cast comprises Hunnam as Pearson’s aide Raymond, who handles the mess with a debonair smile and deadpan humour. Then there is Colin Farrell, who teaches boxing to a bunch of rowdy local youth, and Hugh Grant, who is a private investigator who decides to turn blackmailer instead. Grant is especially good in his role, and has a lot of fun.

Has its finger on the pulse of 2020. Meshes modern day business and portrays real, accurate culprits who pull these “just business” tactics. The nuance behind such business and the karmic or historical consequences men face when involved with them and what they have to do, and ultimately what they have had to resort to in a way with rabid Marxist politics. A sad heroin scene plays out that depicts the “Xennials” and late millenial/early Gen Z types and how drug abuse, lose of hope in God surrounded by the fog of war in regards to the ideals of liberalism has effected those younger groups. When the Xennial lights up a J, he mentions in his day, the 1990s, it was all about having out and talking of hope of the future, ideas and getting along. These heroin homes today taking so many young lives only discuss enslaving one another and using each other until you’re of no use. Classic Ritchie style is prevalent with women in smart outfits and men in classic tweed. Tea is served and a nod to the old ruling class who still have skin in the game is an especially nice touch, and to any discerning viewer, it could rightly be seen as what became of them after their great and great-great grand father’s sent their sons to be slaughtered in the World Wars, effectively rendering them without heirs and over time, estates and the political power they once had which held standards, balance and top culture for centuries. Hats off to Guy Ritchie masterfully painting an elaborate picture, making it thoroughly entertaining, and it being a timepiece marking where our dying civilization is at in 2020.

Funny, clever, gritty, funny, intelligent, entertaining, did I mention its funny? Like, really really funny? Hugh Grant in this was amazing, his quirky homosexual character had me dying! Like there is dialogue in this film between characters where the humor and wittiness just just doesn't stop, it's exhausting and at points I was to nervous to drink anything out of fear i may choke. The story is fantastic, the dialogue is great, and the film is surprisingly non complicated if you simply pay close attention, but it's genuinely easy to follow. I highly recommend, Guy Ritchie can be a genius. Great acting all round. At points it can feel a bit ridiculous., but it's not meant to be taken seriously sometimes. It's a fun film, and just very original. May offend some, the constant use of the word c#@t made a woman close to me tut throughout. Amazing characters, loved everything about it. How everything unfolds, where it leads to, it's just a cool ride that manages to keep you engrossed. It's got that typical Guy Ritchie style that we're used to at this point. If you like the guys movies, I'm sure you'll be impressed and leave the cinema with a smile. I look forward to going back to see it, I'm sure there's details I probably missed. As a film fan, it was great to kick of 2020 with this. The only movie I saw twice last year was Joker, glad I have found another one that I am hyped for seeing again! Go see it, and pack your sense of humor!!

Good all round acting especially Colin Farell and Matthew McConaughey. If you like Guy Ritchie films you will like this but dont be expecting the new Snatch. Still really good for what it is,typical Guy Ritchie style humour intertwined with violence but not in a controversial way. Would recommend but only if you like the genre of British Gangster movies. Is it worth a cinema ticket purchase?Yes.Is it going to blow your mind? Not really. Is it better than just an average movie and are you still going to enjoy it? Most definitely. Is it going to consume your thoughts once the movie has finished?Unfortunately not. It is a movie to enjoy for the moment but even something that can make you laugh just a few times these days can be more than enough. Can't really describe it better than that! The dialogue and acting make this film. There is a lack of story, twists and specific heroes/villains. The only hero in this is Colin Farell, but that's only at the local level for which his character is portrayed in the film. One thing I really liked though, aside from the negatives, was the interactions of the youth with the so called aged gangsters.I think this showed process of ageing in a light hearted manner and the vulnerability that comes with it and can relate to all of us who were growing at a time when Guy Ritchies Lock Stock and Snatch were coming out.It does feel good to relate to the film in that sense.Colin Farells character had the potential to be as legendary as Brad Pitts from Snatch and its disappointing his character didn't have as much of an importance as it could have

Good movie - very impressed! Matthew McConaughey was really impressive too. His character seemed lame from the trailer but was a lot better in the movie. I would have to admit, I have SERIOUS doubts anyone from a trailer park there would ever apply to Oxford. But it's a movie. Henry Golding was very impressive too, definitely Bond-caliber IMO.If you know Ritchie, you know what to expect from him, I consider this likely to be better than Snatch, maybe even better than Lock, Stock. Good to see him taking movies seriously again.

I really love the way the story is told in the film, they do something pretty clever that keeps this movie fresh and keeps you guessing throughout the film! I also really appreciate that the movie doesn't rely on action and explosions to be interesting like so many films in this genre often do. There is actually a lot of dialogue and character building. But when the movie does have action they do it very well.My biggest compliant of the movie is the first act. I was very confused during most of the first act and was a little bored by the pacing of the first act. But as the movie goes on it gets better and better.

Personally this is now my favorite Guy Ritchie film. Don't get me wrong, I love Snatch and Lock Stock. Everybody in The Gentleman is on their A game. The music is great. Guy Ritchies direction seriously brings out the best in the actors he works with. Congrats to the cast crew on such a phenomenal film.

This is a very good film and Ritchie is back to his best."Snatch" is a favourite of mine and I must say that this film surpasses it, in story, tone and cinematography. The twists are good, the jokes are great but what stands out are the performances. A 'star studded cast' seems to be the highlight of every movie nowadays but let me tell you, the majority of the performances in this film are oscar worthy and pure gold. I say majority of course because Jeremy Strong enlisted one of the worst acting performances I've seen this decade.

I have not had this much fun watching a movie in a long time. It's Guy Ritchies Best since Snatch, it's where he is most playful and comfortable in a film genre he knows well. The Cast is perfectly picked, especially Hugh Grant giving a different but yet so funny performance. Sit back and enjoy 2 hours of a British crime drama, which doesn't take itself too serious If we hadn't had lock stock or snatch then this would possibly looked at in a more classic Ritchie film so don't expect it to be as great as those.

The writing, directing, acting and the general production are all top notch. The cast in 'The Gentlemen' is admittedly fantastic, but it doesn't change the fact that they are an absolute treat to watch. Matthew McConaughey is in his element in a role that he was born to play, Charlie Hunnam plays one of the coolest characters I've seen perfectly, Colin Farrell is hilarious and ridiculously cool as well and then Hugh Grant gives one of the best performances I've ever seen from him.

The casting is quite amusing. I would suggest to watch this movie since it packs a good sense of humour and funny too.

Guy Ritchie is back with a real belter, it's a witty, stylish and quote worthy gangster film with a cast you'll instantly recognize. I don't understand why some mainstream critics have slated this film, I went to it without seeing any trailers but knowing Hugh Grant isn't his usual blundering snobby self and was totally blown away by the clever plot and all the twists and turns which evolve around my main story. As soon as you think you've caught up and think you get it "BANG" it brilliantly changes direction. Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnman, Matthew McConaughey and many more keep the film moving at a steady and enjoyable pace. If you love British gangster films I advise you don't watch any trailers and go straight to you're local cinema and watch it.
